MyHotCommentsAs a proud wife and mother from P-town, Angel Staples is changing the sound of Gospel music as we speak. Her desire is to reach the world especially "youth" by the anointed power that God has placed in her through song. She is a minister of music, a worshiper, a singer, songwriter, and actress if you will. She has been singing sense about the age of three. Though singing has always been a big part of Angel's life she still has had to face some hard times. Being raised by a single parent and being the youngest child of four hasn't always been easy. Watching her mother struggle to raise four kids while loosing her father to cancer at the age of 9 caused Angel to find out what it truly means to grab hold of God. Knowing that her father received Christ before he died was some light of encouragement to help Angel continue on. God then became the father that she longed for. Although her father was gone Angel knew that one day she would be the singer that her father always said she would be. As a child Angel's mother began teaching her the word of God and told to her that she was chosen by God to stand in the gap for her family. As time went on her siblings life styles begin to navigate in a negative direction which caused Angel to be exposed to sex, drugs, and crime. And though this was the case, the hand of God still remained strong over her life. After returning home from school one day Angel got the news that one of her brothers who was involved in gang violence had been shot and almost paralyzed. Sitting in the hospital watching her brother lay on the hospital bed was a sign from God that the devil was on the move and prayer was greatly needed in her family. Thoughts of suicide and depression lead Angel to the point of almost giving up and taking her life, but purpose and destiny said no. Angel started out singing in church choirs, and school choirs, which later lead her to acting in musicals plays. This was an outlet to all of her problems. She would find herself putting all of her focus and time on what she enjoyed the most "Singing". To her, singing was an escape from the world, but she would later come to understand that singing "worshiping" was her weapon. At a very young age she realized that she was different and called to be set apart, but she didn't really understand God's call and anointing over her life until she rededicated her life to Christ at the age of 14. Angel got saved right before going into high school in her own words "Thank God". From that point on she knew that her life would be changed forever. It was a decision that she made to serve God with all her heart and nobody was going to take that away from her. After her dedication to the Lord Angel began ministering in a christian group called Das P.H.A.T. where they traveled throughout Oregon ministering through song, mime, skits, and dance. It was hard for some of her friends and family to understand how and why such a young person could be so passionate and on fire for God. It was through prayer, fasting and the Word of God that allowed Angel to see that this fight in life was not to be faught in the flesh but in the spirit. And because of the calling that God had placed on her life she made the decision to remain pure and save her virginity for marriage. By the time she reached high school she had gained a stronger passion toward singing and acting. Angel began participating in various plays during high school. Her first high school play was a Historic musical called "Red beans and Rice", where she got the chance to play the role of Billie Holiday. the second play she did was a christian inspirational musical called "Keep it Real" that was written and directed by Renea Watson, which Angel played a minor role of a young teenage girl trying to live saved while being faced with day to day peer pressure in life and relationships. After being herd in the "Keep it Real" musical Angel was offered the chance to sing in a Gospel girls group called "3rd Person". The group members consisted of herself: Angel "Bragg's" at the time, Ebony Ellington and Angel Robinson. The group began recording their first single with manager Shaunte Sims, and producers Cole Brown and HR Crump. The group unfortunately split up resulting in everyone going their separate ways. Although there was no longer a group Angel still wasn't going to give up! Through the group experience she had gained more knowledge vocally and music wise. Angel then got back on the acting scene having the opportunity to play a major role in another musical called "The Night Before Christmas" Written and directed by Shalonda Sims. It was the first play that Angel and her soon to be Husband "Josh Staples" stared in together. Through prayer, and confirmation Josh and Angel new that they were meant to be together. So after about one year of courting and six moths of being engaged the young couple got married On November 16, 2002, Ms. Braggs became Mrs. Angel Staples. Less than 2 years later the new happy couple became parents to their wonderful baby boy Joshua Staples Jr. While juggling marriage, motherhood, and School Angel then decided to go solo and record a solo album. She soon ran into an old friend Laquisha Hankins who was in the process of building her own recording studio as well as starting on her album. Angel then began recording her album in Laquisha's studio. Through Laquisha Angel then got connected to a wonderful couple that was looking for a soloist/actress to play the star role in the play "Redeemed" written and directed by Sandra and Robert Brown. Angel was then chosen to play the star role along with her comedic husband Josh Staples who played her younger handicapped brother. The musical was about a young women who was faced with the challenge of raising her younger handicapped brother due to the death of their parents in a tragic car accident. The character then gets signed to a recording label and gets caught up in the fast life of the music industry and she finds herself looking to God for salvation and redemption. The play was a great success and touched many lives! These days Angel is in the process of finishing her single as well as writing a musical drama that she and her husband will be directing. She also sings backup for Pastor Timothy Chiles and will be working with his company "The Koinonia Project" which means Fellowship! She is excited for what God has already done and for what He is going to do. For she understands that her life no longer belongs to her but it belongs to God. Because she knows that if it had not been for God holding her up through all of the hard times she would not be here today! So be looking out for Angel's single coming soon! Peace and Blessings!href="http://www.msplinks.com/MDFodHRwOi8vd3d3Lm15
