So everyone, im White Castle. Maker of the infamous White Castle burger, aka "Slyder". I was founded back on September 13th, 1921 in Witchita Kansas thanks to Billy Ingram and Walter Anderson. Mr Anderson came up with the idea of the White Castle burger which was made with ground beef, formed into balls by machine, 18 to a pound. Then after that the balls o' meat were placed on the grill, which the meat was then coverd in onions. (Back then in 1921, they used regular hydrated onions, now we use dehydrated. Obviously.) Then the ground beef got squished into very thin patties, and then flipped so that the onions were on the bottem. Next is the buns. The bottom half of the bun is placed on the top of the cooking pattie while the top of the bun is sitting on top of the bottom so all the juices and steam soak and permeate the buns. After the grilling, a slice of dill pickle was added before serving. He figured all the condiments could be added by the customer. So that way was Anderson's way and is not used now days. In 1949, as i said before, they switched to dehydrated onions rather than the original hydrated onions. Also, they put 5 holes in the patty so therefore they dont have to flip them. This is known as steam grilling.
