Producing incendiary sounds with inspirations drawn from personal experiences, world politics, the weather and anything else you can think of, You vs mE have just finished recording their debut EP at Phase One Studios with Legendaries, Bob Gallo (Producer), George Seara (Engineer), and Rikki Landers Friedlander (Executive Producer) and are now a proud part of the RLF Entertainment Group.
An EP 4 years in the works, this is no ordinary effort. Songs ranging from pop to hard rock to alternative country to symphonic mellowdrome show that You vs mE are no run of the mill indie rock band. They are versatile and well rounded musicians drawing from a more contemporary (self taught) school of music. Though the band is a 4-5piece band from Richmond Hill, Canada they are fronted by Mykle and ChrisP. Having come from different musical backgrounds, Mykle and ChrisP have come together to help redefine musicianship. "We're not technically great players, we can't shred... there i've said it! We just make music the way we think it should be made... for us, it's whatever is pleasing to the ear" says Mykle, one half of the creative force. "I've grown up listening to just about everything. My parents were great advocates of all types of art and culture, from music to art, to films, and that's always stuck with me. They taught me about the importance of uniqueness of person and how artists are made great because they had something different to offer. That's stuck with me all my life and it's probably why I love to improvise, you get something different every time" adds ChrisP, the other half.In addition to being humbly intellectual, You vs mE are ambitious, looking to tour shortly in support of their Debut EP "The Borrowed". A title derived from their struggles to get to where they are today, and not a far cry from the current state of economic affairs. You vs mE have played several shows to date, usually in Toronto, but most notably, a cancer benifit in Chatham. "We were invited to help raise some money for the Corn Roast for Cancer which was organized by a dear friend of ours. They ended up raising a lot of money for a great cause and we ended up getting paid with fresh produce, which doesn't sound like the best deal, but it was by far the most rewarding pay cheque we've ever recieved.", explains ChrisP. No strangers to helping out, You vs mE are also strongly affiliated with BeachBUMP for Muscular Dystophy Canada and host an annual fundraiser concert for the cause. "These shows are always our strongest draws in Toronto. Since we started doing it around 3 years ago, we've seen attendance at the show at Revival Bar grow from 100-400 people, and none of the bands that played with us, including ourselves, had even so much as a demo." Their entreprenurial spirit is a testament to their drive, which is matched only by their ambition.
