Tidbit of Me
One early morning I woke up and went outside. It must have been about five o'clock, and it was pitch black outside. As I was looking up, my dog Maddy walked out wagging to and fro. I scratched behind her ears and noticed the cat Lucy came out too. She gave a half yawn half meow as she casually strolled up to Maddy's paw. I glanced back up at the sky.
The world looked like a negative of itself. The sky
was dark and the trees were light.
Birds began to stretch their vocal chords and chirp as squirrels began crunching and rustling their nests made of leaves: getting ready for a day of lurking and finding food. I looked down to see that Lucy was rubbing her face against Maddy's and they
were adoringly petting each other. Lucy began to purr and a smile crept over my face.
Then the throaty noises of frogs from the creek bellowed out as the wind whispered past my ears. It was a little opera of nature playing out
on a suburban neighborhood stage. I smiled and enjoyed my special little moment.
I looked down and noticed Lucy and Maddy. They
were smelling each other's asses. The moment was
over.
