About Me

I am a theatre artist. I want to be employed at all times. Off time makes me uncomfortable - this makes me question if I meant for a free-lance life style? I can't decide. Am I meant for a life in higher education - am I destined to be a professor? Probably. Like I said, I can't decide.

In other news, I have a cat who pretty much rocks. I can roller skate. I want to learn to knit. I want to speak German. I speak un pocito espanol, pero yo no hablo bien o rapidimente. I want to read Proust, but haven't quite worked up to it yet. I want to do everything that Michael Pollan suggests - if only it weren't so hard and expensive...

p.s. I'm pretty proud of that science score - come on - how often do I USE any of that crap everyday?

Music:

I recomend CDs mixed by Lois Payne. Regina Spektor, Beirut, Norah Jones, Beatles, The Kinks, Depeche Mode, The Police, Cake, The Shins, Iron & Wine, The White Stripes.

Movies:

Anything Judd Apatow touches...

The Darjeeling Limited, Rushmore, Marie Antoinette, The Royal Tennenbaums, Shrek, Sweeney Todd, Moulin Rouge, Chicago, Me You & Everyone We Know, The Anniversary Party, The Edukators, See This Movie, Across the Universe, and for guilty pleasure, Notting Hill.

Television:

Kathy Griffin, Top Chef, Project Runway, Biggest Loser (didn't there used to be shows with writers and actors? hmm)

Lost, Dirt, Deadwood, HUFF (why did it get cancelled?!?!?), Weeds

Books:

I'm currently trying to read And Then You Act, Anna Karenina, Mansfield Park, The Auberge of the Flowering Hearth, and Alice in Wonderland. I get excited and start things all at once. In my defense, I do ususally finish them all.

For best books already read, I'd say...Art & Fear, Beauty Tips from Moose Jaw, The Omnivore's Dilemma, The Sound and the Fury, The Robber Bride, and for guilty pleasure, the Warrior cat books by Erin Hunter.

Some day I will finish teaching myself German...

Heroes:

Katherine Hepburn, Kara Walker, Jack White, Meryl Streep, Anne Bogart : basically all artists that I admire and that inspire me.

Mike and I just dug our cars out of the snow for the 2nd time this week.  The car was stuck in a snowbank that came up to my waist at some points.  In the last week we've gotten 18 inches of...
