I recomend CDs mixed by Lois Payne. Regina Spektor, Beirut, Norah Jones, Beatles, The Kinks, Depeche Mode, The Police, Cake, The Shins, Iron & Wine, The White Stripes.
Anything Judd Apatow touches...
The Darjeeling Limited, Rushmore, Marie Antoinette, The Royal Tennenbaums, Shrek, Sweeney Todd, Moulin Rouge, Chicago, Me You & Everyone We Know, The Anniversary Party, The Edukators, See This Movie, Across the Universe, and for guilty pleasure, Notting Hill.
Kathy Griffin, Top Chef, Project Runway, Biggest Loser (didn't there used to be shows with writers and actors? hmm)
Lost, Dirt, Deadwood, HUFF (why did it get cancelled?!?!?), Weeds
I'm currently trying to read And Then You Act, Anna Karenina, Mansfield Park, The Auberge of the Flowering Hearth, and Alice in Wonderland. I get excited and start things all at once. In my defense, I do ususally finish them all.
For best books already read, I'd say...Art & Fear, Beauty Tips from Moose Jaw, The Omnivore's Dilemma, The Sound and the Fury, The Robber Bride, and for guilty pleasure, the Warrior cat books by Erin Hunter.
Some day I will finish teaching myself German...
Katherine Hepburn, Kara Walker, Jack White, Meryl Streep, Anne Bogart : basically all artists that I admire and that inspire me.
