At the age of seven, Sheila discovered her gift and talent at church, where she entered a singing group. Her singing notability has helped her achieve many things at such a youthful age. Over the years, Sheila has matured into a beautiful young lady, whose passion for music has consumed her every thought. She knows it’s a matter of time before her dreams come true! Being born in Haiti, she saw it fit to musically and professionally name herself Shay-Lah, Creole for Sheila.
Sheila was born in Haiti. With her family struggling in Haiti due to economic misfortunes, her mother immigrated to the United States in hope of a better life for her family. Sheila and her two brothers were left behind in Haiti with their father, while her mother sought enough money in the U.S. to bring her family along. After a few years, Sheila and her family were reunited, and were residing in Elizabeth, New Jersey. There, she lived in a three-bedroom home with 12 others, including her grandparents, uncles, her mother and her siblings. Years later, in her freshman year of high school, her mother achieved a milestone in finding a place of her own, in the affluent suburbs of Linden, New Jersey.
By then, her mother was a single parent, who had to fend for herself, and her 4 children. The only way to make ends meet was for her mother to work constantly, and have great trust in the Lord. Every Sunday, they went to the Baptist Church of Jesus Christ, a Haitian based church in Elizabeth. Early on, Sheila entered a singing group at church directed by her uncle called “Angels Loveâ€. This is where she discovered her God given talent, which is singing. The church then migrated to Roselle, New Jersey where her talent for music and singing only grew stronger. By the time Sheila entered Linden High School, she knew singing is what she wanted to do. There, she was a part of “Madrigalsâ€, a group which consisted of the best voices in the school. With the Madrigals, Sheila learned the competitive nature of singing, entering competitions, and singing at special functions. Her love for singing helped her, and her counterparts form a group within the madrigals, and members of her church called “Inspirationâ€. With this group, Sheila found it gratifying to receive certificates and trophies for doing what she loves most. The group did split up after Sheila graduated from Linden High School, leaving her to pursue a solo career. She slowly entered the realm of songwriting without any formal experience, but endless imagination.
After high school, Sheila entered Berkeley College where she earned a degree in computer networking. She then began attending a weekly open mic session for “Live at Instant Coffeeâ€, where she would work on perfecting her talent. There, she met a producer who noticed her gift, enthusiasm, and work ethic. The two successfully recorded three songs, one of which Sheila wrote. Sheila has moved to the South, striving for perfection on her God given talent, and still hopes her dream will one day come true."; I edited my profile at Freeweblayouts.net , check out these Myspace Layouts!
