About Me

ELECTUNDRA AUDIO-VISUAL FESTIVAL 2008
A three night festival celebrating the best of Melbourne’s audio-visual underground- experimental sounds and moving images from local artists.
Electundra 2008 presents high quality live audio-visual performances at Loop over three successive Sunday nights. Dates are November 23, November 30 and December 7, 2008, 5pm to midnight. The festival is an inspired cross section of vanguard sounds and moving images: manipulated pure noise, visual mash ups, post-rock thrash, raw digital minimalism, flip-cut psychedelia, feral technologies, tongue-in-cheek cheese electronica, swamp jazz, ambient click dub and pseudo documentary are just some of the genres thrown into the blend.

Influences: Electundra was conceived as collaboration between a proud musician, Kent Macpherson and the independent project space, Loop. Both parties were determined to spotlight the most original and challenging audio-visual performance from Melbourne’s underground roots. The inaugural festival was held in June 2003.Under the umbrella of the Electundra, new collaborations between experimental digital artists are nurtured. Sound artists and innovative visual artists, who are often working in relative isolation, mesh together at Electundra sessions, testing fresh ideas and new technologies, in a live environment. The program itself is a smorgasbord of sonic and optical digital diversity, ranging from fast cut, re-contextualised media footage combined with dissonant audio mash ups, to lush, lyrical harmonies paired with spare, minimal abstract and animated screen works that are by turns playful, haunting and poetic.
