About Me

Lamar Riddick began playing piano at age 5. He grew up in a family, surrounded by talented musicians and singers. His mother, Wanda Riddick, a church musician, noticed his gift of playing the piano, when he would sit alongside her and play by ear when she rehearsed at home. She taught him the piano basics, a few songs and chord progressions - from there Lamar taught himself how to play piano. Early in his childhood, his musical interests were formed by a solid gospel and r&b music foundation. At age 16, he was heavily influenced by a variety of musicians and exposed to the hip hop scene. The spark to pursue music came from one outstanding piano solo he heard on the radio, but never knew the name of the musician. This musician's identity to the piano solo eluded him until his late teens, that's when Lamar discovered the accomplished, the magic, skillful inspiring playing of Chick Corea.
His introduction to jazz fusion began with Corea & Hancock and others, which led him to compose, produce songs of that genre of music. His style of playing comes from influences by; Rev. James Cleveland to The Hawkins Family, Stevie Wonder to Earth,Wind & Fire, Herbie Hancock to Chick Corea and D'Angelo to Dzihan & Kamen. Over the years, Lamar has been involved in recording projects and concerts/live performances in/around the Southern New Jersey tri-state region and beyond. In addition, Lamar has spent 7 years as music director for local radio station.
With his exposure to the music and broadcasting industries, Lamar started Ivory Productions. Ivory Productions is a small independent label and music production company that provides music tracks for the entertainment industry and individuals searching for recorded music material.
Currently, Lamar is developing and working with a band and will be in production.
