I'm an old man in the pub world, but have been owned for the last 22 years by John Tighe. In this time I have seen births and deaths, marriages and divorces celebrated/commiserated, sports and charity events, meetings, teachers parties, hen parties, stag dos, and many many many different kinds of musical wonders. There are too many to name, but span from traditional Irish music, rock n roll, jazz, indie, reggae, electro, funk, folk, punk, drum n bass(very occasionally!), metal, soul and the odd bit of country (I'm hoping to have some live original ska music in BEAUTIFUL GARDEN in September 07....but we'll have to see because at the moment I'm not allowed music in the garden).
I've survived on the energy of these events and the people who have made them - it's kept me spirit alive, but now I'm under threat from forms of censorship and control that if successful, may see not only my untimely demise, but also cause a greater threat to the surrounding community...the leftfield, kooky, unpredictable Irish Quarter in Digbeth...home of artists, musicians and other interesting inhabitants and residents who have settled here and flourished.
