THE BAND
The vikingrock band Njord was created in early 2003. Therefore 2009 is the 6 year anniversary of one of the most active vikingrock bands in the world. The band was created by Mathias (vocals & guitar) and Johanna (bass) after influences of Ultima Thule and Völund Smed.
In February 2003 Andreas Momqvist (former member) joined the band and took on the drums for a studio recording. After a few months the band decided they wanted to introduce a fourth member to be able to make gigs with two guitars.
Therefore Patrik Björkmann (drums) joined the band and took on the drums while Andreas took on the solo guitar and backing vocals.
After 2 years of minor releases on compilation cd’s as well as gigs in front of a couple of hundred persons the band experienced inside problems and therefore Andreas and Patrik left the band.
Johanna and Mathias continued for a couple of months looking for new members before Patrik rejoined the band.
The three vikings continued their journey and after several months of looking for a second guitarist, Daniel Eklund (guitar and backing vocals) joined the band.
Njord has made themselves a name by participating on several compilation cds. The first one was "Paty på Valhall" released in 2003 including bands like Ultima Thule and Mjölner.
The second one was Carolus Rex 7 including Ultima Thule, Hel and Enhärjarna.
The third one was Carolus Rex 8 featuring among others: Völund Smed, Battle Scarred and Ultima thules side project Hotrod Frankie.
The debut album "Mot himlen..." was released at the moment the band members felt entirely confident with their material; in July 2008 at the company Vikingarock Records (sweden).
