As a kid I realized music has been in my family for generations. It runs deep in our blood and heritage. Right from the start, I knew that I wanted to be involved with music all my life. Some of my all time favorites are Africa Bambaataa & Soulsonic Force, Kool Herc, Big Daddy Kane, Eric B & Rakim, Public Enemy, Run DMC just to name a few. I joined a break dancing group and it was at that point my love for music developed. During my teens, I started listening to all sorts of music including freestyle (Lisette Melendez, Cover Girls, Noel and Information Society), deep soulful house (M.A.W> Kenny Dope, Little Louie Vega, & Tony Humphries), early 70’salsa (Ray Barreto, Joe Batan, & Ricardo Ray – Bobby Cruz), 70’s funk (Feta Kuti, James Brown, & Fat Back Band), Soul and R&B ( Minnie Ripperton, Barry White, Michael Jackson, & Betty Wright). When I moved to Miami in 1991, I was exposed to a different world of music – Miami bass. At twelve, music was becoming my hobby. I would DJ family and friend’s parties and special occasion events. My most recent performance was Dj’ing for a birthday party held for Jennifer Capriati as well as SpringFest in South Beach, an event put together by Swizz Beat & Jazzy Pha. I have performed for True Religion, Miss Sixty Boutique, L.F. stores, Art/Design district COLORbrations art exhibit, Opium Gardens (private event), Soles Inc. sneaker boutique, Adidas store, LA Fitness health clubs and Shaq’s 24hr Fitness health clubs. For three years in a row I planned the Colombian carnival party known as “El Carnaval de Barranquilla” at Bongo’s Cuban Café in the American Airlines Arena grounds. In L.A., I performed for venues such as Little Temple and Adidas store on Melrose Ave., in N.Y. Café DeVille and Lobby Lounge, and in N.J. Tropical’s Night Club and Rio Grande Lounge. Wasabi on the 1 & 2’s transmits his sound to guide his crowd from the current and into a world of imagination. Music is my passion and my goal is to feed that vibe into all my listeners so their soul and feet move to the rhythm I bring. Wasabi’s rare way of mixing his national & global selection of music is something to be seen and not spoken about. His listeners forget who they were before the music begun and reminisce who they are at the moment. My mission is to convert any average event and deliver to my crowd a musical set to remember.
