Who Is Unknown Written by Ma’Chauni Chandler........BOOKING INFO ....612-281-9712 ASK 4 SMOOVE....Carl Dewann Thaddies, known to most people simply as “UnKnown”, was born March 15 1982 in Gary, Indiana. At the young age of 11, UnKnown realized a love for music and was inspired by greats like Da Brat, Criss Cross, Tupac, and Digital Underground. Although he has fond memories of his musical beginnings, UnKnown is no stranger to tragedy and loss. In 1999 UnKnown found himself shipped off to Memphis, Tennessee following the senseless death of his older brother, Malcom McKenzie. It was there that he picked up his southern “Swag”. But in 2000, shortly after returning to Indiana, UnKnown sufferd the lost his baby brother, Jermaine Thaddies, who died from a gunshot wound to his chest much like his big brother. Three years later sister, Monique Thaddies, succumbed to medical complications at the tender age of 17. Not able to take another heartbreak, UnKnown’s mother decided to permanently pull her remaining child away from the troubled streets of Gary, Indiana. UnKnown was sent to live with family in Minneapolis,Mn while promising to return and get his mama out of the hood.Still struggling to deal with so much loss, UnKnown threw his self into his passion, music. He was now a man on a mission. UnKnown hustled to scrape up the money to pay for studio time and to get his songs pressed up to sell on the streets. He snatched all props at open mic contest with hits like, “Rollerblade Skate”, “Swagga Check”, and “Get High, Get Low”. Unknown was no longer what his name implied, he was becoming a household name. He started catching the eye of local producers, talent scouts, and music promoters. With his energetic, crowd pleasing, stage presence, Unknown had a unique way of getting the crowd going.Unknown crossed the path of his now manager Ranell “Smoove” Chandler who began booking him shows with artists such as Stylez P, Lil Flip, J Kwon, Juvenile, Hurricane Chris, Ying Yang Twins, Gorilla Zoe, Playaz Circle, TheAlkoholics, Three 6 Mafia,MC BREED, and many more. Thereafter connections were made with local radio station DJ, Peter Parker(of B96) and manager, Ray Patterson of 25/8 Entertainment. That’s where the new journey began. Ray challenged Unknown to go to the studio and write on tracks from numerous industry producers. That’s when he came out with hit songs such as “Midas Touch”, "GO GO GADGET“Guilty”, GOTCHA LOOKIN FEAT. MC BREED and “Welcome to the Projects. how it’s supposed to be done. In a time when “one hit wonders” are a dime a dozen, UnKnown is ready to show them how it's suppose 2 be done....at this time unknown has sold more than 15,000 units thanks to local mom & pops record stores and also out of the trunk the man is on his way to the top cause it's gettn a lil crowded at the bottom...Now with the help of the internet and a strong team around him the kid is sure to make his dreamz a reality.
