Bonifacio Mauricio III "BONI" began his musical carrer in 1974 performing along side with his father Bonifacio Mauricio Jr. as a drumer. Boni's father', seeing his sons love for music and ambition to learn, sent him to piano lessons giving Boni the best gift a musicians son could ever recieve. With this knowledge, Boni later persued several other instruments including Bajo Sexto, Bass Guitar, Electric and Acoustic Guitar, many percussion instruments, and finally in 1982 got accordion lessons from a Corpus Christi Legend, Issac Figueroa .... Boni has performed and recorded for many bands. He remembers his fathers advice, " Always try to adapt, modify, and improvize", with this his experiences have been numerous. Boni's most recognized performances and recordings were with Los Campeones de Raul Ruiz, , Conjunto Badd, Pio Trevino & Magic, Chato Chavarria y Grupo Mayo, Angel Flores y Los Alacranes, Mingo Saldivar, June P Garcia Y El Conjunto Madrigal, a special recording on drums with Tony De La Rosa & Ruben Vela together, The HomeTown Boys and following the advice of his PADRINO Tony De La Rosa, now solo with Los Maximos.... "El Abandonado" marks the first release of Boni Mauricio not as a sideman for another band but as a lead man for his own group. The boldly entitled "Me Importa Madre", Maintains a strong filled with human emotions, struggles, and triumph. Everything after this is HISTORY!! Boni began his singing with Ramiro Gonzales (Los Nuevos Campeones) in 1984 experimenting with harmonies... It wasnt until making his first group "Conjunto Badd" that intonation came into the picture. Throughout the years Boni has sang with several greats such as Joe Ramos, Chacha Jimenez, Beto Martinez, Greg Paredez, Tony De La Rosa, Beto Salinas, Ricky Martinez, Joe Martinez, Roman Martinez, Bobby Salinas, Ruben Garza, Gilberto Garcia, Mingo Saldivar and many many more!!!! His unique raspy voice is known throughout the U.S. and Mexico and is considered by some, "The Ray Charles De La Onda Tejana". Boni has won several awards one being Conjunto Of The Year 2004 and Album Of The Year 2006 by the South Texas Conjunto Association.
