About Me

A hobby musician, my musical interest spans quite a range of different genres. I prefer to play jazz and soul music, but have extensive experience of classical choir music, church organ and the classical trumpet repertoire as well.
My main instrument is the piano or keyboards in general. Over the last ten years, however, I have been turning more and more to my second instrument, the trumpet, which currently is the only instrument that I play regularly. A few years ago, I got an electric bass for my birthday, and I love playing the bass, even though my skills are somewhat lacking (cough cough). I have also done quite a bit of singing - mostly jazz, but also more modern soul or pop.
My singing started with a lot of choir activities almost 25 years ago. Nowadays, I don't really sing in choirs anymore, but previous choirs I have participated in include the Kammerchor der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, the Vocal Ensemble of the Royal Music Academy in Stockholm, Maria Magdalena Motett Choir, Stockholm, Sofia Motett Choir, Stockholm, as well as numerous short term substitutions.
I have also participated in Jesus Christ Superstar when it was performed in Stockholm between 1996 and 2002. I played the role of Hannas, one of the priests. In a previous, much smaller version of the musical, performed by Sofia Motett Choir in 1994, I did the instrumental arrangements and played the orchestral parts on synthesizer.
My biggest love in music is jazz music. Being a member of Täby Sonora Big Band between 1999 and 2002, I got to perform with many renowned artists, including Gustavo Bergalli, Jan Allan and Ulf Andersson. Gustavo has become also a personal friend, and has been a great inspirer over the years. I have also substituted in other big bands over the years, notably Opus and Blåsette.
Nowadays, my only regular band is the soul band Upstairs www.upstairs.se . We play soul and disco music from the 60's, 70's and 80's and in spite of our amateur status and musical shortcomings we are actually quite a decent party band.
A few years ago we made an attempt to create an 80's band, playig all the cool and slick music of the eighties - Al Jarreau, Michael Franks, Paulinho da Costa, Anita Baker, etc. In spite of the very cool-sounding name Miami Vice www.miamivice.se we never scored any success, and the band was dissolved. Too bad - it was a good band, but the timing for the members was wrong.
The band featured on my player is The Disciples of Guru, a special band that was reunited to celebrate the bass player's bachelor's party. We reunited the old Rue de Labrador band of the early nineties, added some extra stuff, let the bass player enter a studio totally unaware of what was happening, and we ended up with the recording above. I ended up playing not only keyboard and trumpet, but actually had to sing the piece, since the designated singer couldn't make it.
Oh yeah - it is actually true that I'm signed by Universal... it's a long story, but they signed me to do the dog part (yeah, no kidding) in the Swedish translation of a Danish children's record. My wife did the main part, and I got to sing like a St. Bernard dog. Weee... and of course - the record was never released in Sweden. But I do have the signed contract with Universal, and I will ask them if I can post one of the songs on this page!

Attercop
Attercop is my latest project and isn't really a band but more of a network (hence the name Attercop). I will involve different musicians for different projects, work on that project and then move on to other ideas. The first Attercop constellation will provide the music for a show at Sida's annual staff party in February 2008. I have been lucky enough to be able to engage some of Sweden's best professional musicians, as well as some excellent amateurs to form the following group:

Keyboard: Stefan Jernståhl
Bass: Peter Strindlund
Guitar: Philip Löf
Drums: Johan Thurfjell
Trombone: Martin PÃ¥lsson
Tenor saxophone: Cecilia Pereswetoff-Morath
Trumpet: Per Byman

Thank you everyone for making the Attercop project possible!
