I am here for Friends

About Me

Well I could bore you to death with the details of my life, but I'd rather not put people to sleep. I have a wife, Jorena, who I wouldn't trade for anyone else in the world. I'm a light hearted person who trys not to worry about the small stuff and often has either a joke to tell or a smart-ass answer to give. I have a temper, but I don't let it show. I keep busy as my friends can tell you. I'm an active member of four fraternal orders. I'm a 3rd Degree Knight and Charter Member of St. Agnes Council 13682, Knights of Columbus; a Master Mason of Gate of the Temple Lodge #422 and United Lodge #5, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons; the Secretary of Queen City Lodge #12, Independent Order of Odd Fellows; and Past Chancellor Commander and current Master of the Work at Syracuse Lodge #437, Knights of Pythias. I'm also very excentric. Yes I like older fashon and my friends say my house is like a timewarp back 70 years. (Some say it's like a museum and I've been told that I need to charge admission.) If you would like to learn more, please leave a message and a representative will get back to you as soon as he is online again.

A Look at the Square

By Matthew Siegmann

She sits in the center surrounded yet alone,
From here a city was forged and grown.
Starting as a crossroads where farmers would meet,
She later became the heart of the new county seat.
The mighty Cherokee came though being moved from their lands,
A Trail of Tears was made thanks to bloody white hands.
Soldiers were quartered here during the great Civil War,
But the people came back and made her grow.
A department store was built, the first in the land,
A new era in retail started, Heer was the man.
Streetcars came to haul people around town,
50 years later they were shut down.
Hickock shot Tutt from across the Square;
He was acquitted of the charges which is almost unfair.
Three black men were hung 'cause of one woman's lie,
To think of the lynch mob makes one want to cry.
The hustle and bustle remained though and through,
There were fairs and parades and Route 66 was there too.
Then the Depression hit and the country went broke,
But the city survived and the Square stayed afloat.
Downtown did great, she flourished and thrived,
But when the malls came could the Square stay alive?
She struggled for years as businesses said, "Bye,"
Until at last the department store died.
Now we sit and we ponder and we make some amends,
As we make this place prosper and great once again.
