Petro (RIP Timothy Pitts)

About Me

Petro, whose birth name is Pete Pitts, began his rap career in 2007, at the age of 22, with the recording or "We've Had Enough" and the distribution of a demo CD called Life: The Album. He has been making music every since. As a youth, he listened to every type of music from classic rock to jazz to heavy metal and hip hop. While listening to lyrics from great rappers such as Tupac Shakur, Notorious BIG, Common, Mos Def, Eminem, among others, Petro became enthralled by their ability to use words, syllables, and sentences to produce such a fluent and rhythmic sound. He instantly became a huge fan of the rap genre of music. Upon further investigation and listening, Petro realized how much he had in common with many of the artists to whom he was listening. The pursuit of money through any means became a sole objective in his life, highly persuaded by ideas of a pretentious life spoken about in many songs. Media and music flooded his belief system, and he sought to live a life of immediate pleasure, wealth, and power. The use of drugs and alcohol intensified this desire, but eventually led to a state of chemical and physical dependence. Suicidal tendencies and extreme depression followed, and life seemed hopeless for the teenager at this time. After multiple suicide attempts and repeated arrests as a juvenile, Petro began taking the idea of making music a little more seriously. He would often freestyle with friends to the latest and newest CD. He associated with other local rappers in the Marion County and Chattanooga area, listening to their skill and determining how they made their lyrics so precise. By the time he was 20, he was rapping everyday, whether he was with people or by himself. Petro became serious about recording music in 2007 when his father passed away unexpectedly, leaving him with words not spoken and feelings not conveyed. By this time, Petro had already composed or written down lyrics for over fifty songs with his great friend and fellow rap artist Loski. Eventually realizing the beauty of life and all it has to offer, Petro began to fervently pursue the production of a genre of rap music that would motivate, inspire, and relax people listening to it. He has been and is working on collaborations with other artists and genres of music such as hard rock, blues, country, and folk. Petro's debut album has passed through many stages of production, but demo disks are available now for free. In addition to music production, Pete is a full time student and media technician at Chattanooga State, a server at the Walden Club, a personal trainer, and a counselor and adviser to friends. He gives all credit to God for the talents he has been blessed with.
