About Me
Based in Christchurch, NewZealand, We are a band that play what we enjoy, which comes mostly from metal influences. We enjoy the lower tuning side of metal, which is evident in our sound and enjoy our groove, 'breakdowns', and the odd blast. We incorperate melody throughout the songs to create what we think is 'unique'. We are a five piece band with the traditional line up of two guitarists, bass, drummer and vocalist.Habit formed in 2000 with core members Owen, Andy and Tristan meeting on an audio engineering course.
It was on this course where they realised they all had a similar taste for the heavier style of music, and began setting the foundations for Habit- Owen (guitars), Andy(guitars), and Tristan(drums).When finding other members, Habit Struggled to find people with the same enthusiasm and determination.
There were various bass players and vocalists, many auditions, and a few gigs here and there.
It seemed that just when they were ready to settle on a line up, there would be some issue with the 'new members'.Finally in 2005, an ideal bassist in the form of Arumaki Strickland (aka 'Aru')- which hasn't changed, and after dealing with many vocalists, Owen swapped guitar for vocal duties.
Habit then started gigging around as a four piece.
Then in late 2006, Habit advertised for another guitarist and after a few auditions, Jonno Wheeler joined as second guitarist.Now with a solid line up and shared enthusiasm, Habit started jamming and writing new material as a five piece - and have not looked back.
After many succesful gigs Habit decided to release a self funded e.p.
The 'Stay Inside' e.p was recorded in June/July of 2007 at Porn Raid studios Christchurch, and released in late August. It has five tracks, two of which can be heard on: www.bebo.com/habitmetal or www.myspace.com/habitmetal.
