Indie Rock artist Mike Perez uses acoustic flavors to stir excitement in the listener and simultaneously push music in new and interesting directions. Mike Perez avoids carbon copy songwriting, insisting on standing firm in his artistic vision. Fighting musical stagnation, Mike offers up songs that are compelling and ring with a sense of the familiar yet are refreshing and original. “I hate mainstream Music, it seems like whenever you turn on the radio. you hear something that sounds almost identical to something else. its like, nobody makes anything original anymore. This is how i stand out by making things as unique as i can.” declares Mike. And he’s here to help cure that situation, focusing on producing and songwriting that is intimate and personal and friendly, and therefore much more able to grab listener attention with something that is special. “I try to make things different and more meaningful instead of talking about spinners, SUV’s, and big houses” he says, adding that making music to which people can relate is essential. “I like to make music that you can move too, and that will make you think of exactly what you were doing when you hear it.”

People

And what’s more real than people? The human element is the most important aspect of Mike’s music. Thus it is he is able to write songs with such draw for listeners and how he is able to keep his music fresh. “I guess what inspires me most would be people – knowing how people are and what they go through and flip it and write their stories as well as my own into songs.” Just as his songs are a convergence of his own aspects and those of the people who surround him, the experiencing of one of his songs creates a sort of artist/audience synergy. It’s communication, the ultimate purpose of music in all its forms and Mike Perez is a top notch communicator.

The Artist at Work

Mike has made a name for himself playing guitar for Number1Hater, a major crowd creator. Through work with Number1Hater, Mike has developed a reputation as a solid performer in his own right. He’s busy with being in and out of the studio, working with a new artist every week and making music for the masses to hear. When not engaged in one of these endeavors, Mike is always writing new music. In fact, he sings, produces, plays and writes all of his own music.
