Sonorous Mastering founder, David Shirk, has been involved in various facets of music production since 1985. Spending his teen years attached to a guitar, music seemed to be the natural path for him to follow. Dave attended the College for Recording Arts in San Francisco and gained valuable experience immersed in the Bay Area music scene. Over the course of several years, he held positions in the studio and sound reinforcement fields for McCune Audio Visual, Russian Hill Recording and Clair Brothers Audio Enterprise.
Dave joined American Helix Technology Corporation in 1989. At the time, Helix was an independently owned CD manufacturing facility located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Carving out an independent/service oriented niche, the company grew rapidly and was eventually purchased by the Japanese conglomerate Kao Infosystems. Over the next several years, plants were opened in California, Massachusetts, Ireland and Japan.In 1997, with a desire to fulfill his own professional and personal goals, Dave opened Sonorous Mastering, Inc. His vision to create a facility that prioritized building client relationships in a user friendly environment shaped the foundation of Sonorous Mastering.Sonorous Mastering is located under the blue skies of Tempe, Arizona, in close proximity to downtown Tempe's Mill Avenue and central Phoenix shopping and cultural districts. With over 300 days of sunshine per year, the many outdoor recreations that the southwest has to offer can be enjoyed within minutes of our location.
