About Me

First and foremost, my life revolves around my service to God. It's my everyday life, and everything else comes secondary. I put my life in His hands, and trust that He will always lead me in the right direction. For anything regarding personality, you would really have to ask the people around me, because I never really know what to say. I'm probably different things to different people. I make way too many jokes, more than I would like to, but most of the time I can't help it. I just point out certain things that I see, and I guess sometimes its funny. I love to write; it is probably the only thing I will admit to really being good at. I cherish my family and friends. I think friendships are the greatest possessions anyone could ever have. I have gone from journalism to nursing, and although it was a weird transition, I know that I have made the right decision. I love my Concorde people (I really wish someone would have documented our year. "People have to know what we do here" - Itzia). I love Diet Coke, oatmeal raisin cookies, honey walnut shrimp, Cold Stone, extremely cold weather, basketball and volleyball, people who can really make me laugh, among other things, etc., etc....I love seeing people happy, smiling and laughing. I hate drama (everyone says that, but it doesn't mean that they don't go through it. No one is immune). If I have helped even one person that I have come across to be a better person, than I have lived a successful life. If not, then I will keep trying...Peace...Always...

My Interests

BNP. Basketball, volleyball, sports in general. Learning about life through people. Nursing...kinda. Wasting time on the Internet. Laughing at funny things. Laughing at things that are so NOT funny that they are funny to me (it's almost funnier than funny things). Writing, and observing other people's writing. Vegetating on my bed watching TV. Naps in the afternoon that keep me up all night. Going over CPR in my head randomly, just in case. Organizing my closet. Keeping my room clean, although thats not always the case. Ironing all my clothes, not just wearing it out of the dryer. Doing crossword puzzles before I go to sleep. Watching the Food Network all the time and wondering when I'm going to learn to cook. Observing people (things they say, what they wear, etc.) and trying to read them (and I've gotten pretty good I think). Trying to keep my legs from shaking, and training my feet to point outward like normal people. There's more, but later...

I'd like to meet:

More people who can make me laugh, preferably because they're ACTUALLY funny. People who can help me become a better nurse. People who keep neat closets. People who are honest, with others and with themselves. People with good poker faces. People who enjoy being happy, and enjoy bringing happiness to others...If you fall under any one of these categories and we haven't met, then I must be talking about you...

Music:

They need to create a radio station that plays Christmas songs all day, all year long...Because I can't NOT be in a good mood when I hear them...The only other things I am listening to right now are KELLY CLARKSON (I love her), Alicia Keys (ditto)...Ne-Yo, John Legend, Marvin Gaye, Jackson 5, old MJ, Justin Timberlake (still WAITING for NSYNC to reunite...hurry up), Boyz II Men (old BIIM, not the new fat version), New Edition, Il Divo (crazy voices), Michael Buble, Michael McDonald, a lot of Motown stuff...Common, Kanye, Little Brother, Jay-Z, Nas, Lupe Fiasco, older HipHop (Most of the new HH is just annoying)...the good ol' Filipino stuff: Martin, Gary, MYMP (Juris is the bomb, seriously)...my random burned CDs that have all the songs I like on them so I don't need to pop in a CD with 20 songs just to listen to one of them...thank God for CD burners...and if all else fails there's radio (last resort)...But c'mon...all day Christmas carols...one day it will happen...

Movies:

That Thing You Do! (My favorite ever. I love the movie and the song). The Usual Suspects. Forrest Gump. Heat (Deniro & Pacino). Goonies. Shreks 1&2 (So very clever and funny. Donkey is a riot.). An American Tail (Best animated movie ever). You've Got Mail (A movie I actually walked out on in the theatres but cant get enough of on TV. Go figure). Office Space. Airplane! Napolean Dynamite. Sleepless in Seattle. The Godfather. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. The Wizard of Oz. Hook (there Kristine). Love Actually. The American President. Zoolander. Austin Powers (the original). Happy Gilmore. Tommy Boy. Ace Ventura. There's probably more but I can't think right now...

Television:

I don't really have time to watch TV anymore. But here's a short list: Seinfeld (the funniest show ever, I dont care what anyone says). Friends. Family Guy (HILARIOUS). Will and Grace. Conan O'Brien (hilarious). Around the Horn/ Pardon the Interruption (gotta get my sports fill). All NBA games. Roseanne and Fresh Prince reruns on Nick at Nite. Law and Order SVU (so captivating). Grey's Anatomy. Desperate Housewives (sometimes). ER. Comedy Central anything (except Mad TV). Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, on the Food Network. American Idol. Laguna Beach (The most uneventful show on TV. So why is it so dang addicting?), and now The Hills. And last but certainly not least, Days of our Lives...you gotta love it...and if you don't, I suggest you start...

Books:

Foundations of Nursing...The Human Body in Health and Disease...Introductory Clinical Pharmacology...if you haven't read these, I suggest you go out and get a copy...action, drama, suspense, disease processes...plus a surprise twist at the end...they will make you laugh, they will make you cry...mostly cry...its a must-read...But seriously, A Light in the Attic by Shel Silverstein (my first favorite book), The Life of Mary as Seen by the Mystics, the Chicken Soup series...I am not much of a reader, as you can see...

Heroes:

My parents...Ate...I don't have too many heroes, but there a lot of people who possess traits that I admire...I don't know if that makes them heroes or not...I look up to a lot of people, but I think that's different than a hero...

Today...

It's hard to believe that one year ago today, "Anytime, Sunshine" became a reality. I remember it like it was yesterday. It was one of the most nerve-wracking, gut-wrenching, stomach-twisting, sp...

Still...

Ten days later, where are we now? I am still there. One day at a time, I have held the words close, reflecting on them daily. Each morning I ask, "Lord, what can I do for you today?" Truly, the world ...

Make Me Better...

I always wondered what I would do when I finally had money of my own. Would I buy all the things I wished I could buy for the first 25 years of my life? Or had I gotten so accustomed to not having mon...

Yesterday I was a witness to one of the more beautiful moments that I can recall in my recent memory. It was the first communion of a 9-year-old boy, a boy who had been denied this wonderful privilege...

So it's been a good 6 months since the last time I was on here. That's amazing considering the frequency with which I could crank out one of these things in the past. Things happen, and before you kno...
