Etna Green is a piano rock band originating from Walkerton, Indiana. We began playing locally as a band called This Time Tomorrow in November of 2006. By the following June, we had a solid show and were confident in what we were becoming. By late June This Time Tomorrow was no more—we picked up Matty K, our bass player, and formed Etna Green, the band you know today.
With a mix of hard hitting rock guitar, intricate piano, and thoughtful lyrics, Etna Green has, for the past year and a half, continued to grow and evolve our identity by experimenting with a wide range of song styles and poignant themes. We have shared the stage with a variety of bands: Skillet, Jonezetta, Slingshot 57, as well as political speakers: mayors, congressmen, and the occasional presidential candidate. We’ve played stadiums, packed theaters, coffee houses, even birthday and graduation parties.
In August 2008, we set out to record our first full length album. We had several setbacks throughout the year, but we were determined to get our music out. Heading to Joplin, we planned a four day recording marathon with Josh Walker of Transient Media Group. We recorded forty-four hours that weekend, and let Josh work his magic. After two months of mixing, mastering, and conference calls we released our first album, The Deeper the Roots the Higher the Reach. Our cd release show was amazing! Imagine three times the people for legal occupancy crammed together in a coffee house accompanied by great local and touring bands. The show was a sellout and we realized then that we want to take this as far as we can.
The next step for Etna Green is a tour. We plan on touring the Midwest this summer with stops at Chicago, Minneapolis, Indianapolis, and St Louis. We don’t know what to expect out of it, but we will play for anyone willing to listen to us; with that mindset, we plan on nothing short of an adventure. Keep checking in on us to see what we’re up to.
