About Me

PROFILE
I am a singer/songwriter who hails from Bedworth, United Kingsdom. I am 26 years old and I have been writing songs for over ten years now. I began recording my songs in the summer of 2007 and one of those songs, 'Two Minds', was featured on a compilation album called 'Stay In The box 2', released by Matchbox Recordings in November 2007.
I followed that up by releasing 'The Crescent Demo's 2007', a compilation ofmy home recordings from tha summer, through ITunes.
Thus far in 2008 I have been writing and recording new material, some of which can be heard on this page.
PRESS
"Singer/song writer Alan Proctor hails from Coventry in the UK and sings about the life and times of being stuck in a dead end town. Characteristically then, his songs are pretty melancholic, utilising harmonica and keyboards to create a new version of that uniquely English object: the uplifting miserable song. Accomplished enough, there is no doubt that Alan Proctor will soon move on from his home town as he so obviously yearns"
Dave Chislett, Music Journalist
"A SINGER songwriter from Bedworth is hoping to make it to the big time as he launches his first single online.
Alan Proctor has released his 'Two Minds' single through iTunes and the song is also set to feature on an international compilation album of unsigned artists to be released on Monday called 'Stay In The Box 2'.
Mr. Proctor is a former Nuneaton student having been taught at George Eliot Community School before moving on to North Wawickshire and Hinckley College for his A- Levels.
He now works at Nicholas Chamberlaine School in the sports centre, but music is his real passion as he works to use his talents to put the area on the map and move up to the next level.
"My musical influences vary from my heroes Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan to bands that my parents got me in to such as the Clash and the Jam," said Mr. Proctor who has built up quite a large following on myspace.
"The songs I write are about where I live, the people I know and wanting to break out of a small town to discover the rest of the world.
"The song 'Two Minds' is about making crucial decisions in life that will have a profound effect on not just yourself but the people you know and love.
"My main ambition is to keep improving as a songwriter and hopefully one day it will lead somewhere. I have gained a large following on myspace and I am now looking to move up to the next level."
Anyone wishing to listen to Alan's single are invited to log on to www.myspace.com/alanproctormusic to see what they think. People can also leave a comment online."
