DARK ABYSS! (ARE DEAD!)

DARK ABYSS ARE DEAD! From mid 2006 through to mid 2007 Dark Abyss went through 13 members and 2 Name changes.
Then it all came together after Anthony saw an advert on Matthew's MSN asking if any bands needed a bassist and asked him if he wanted to give Dark Abyss one last try with him.
With Matthew on bass and Anthony on vocals they went in search of a guitarist and found one in previous line-up member Robert.
They thought they would use Connor as the Drummer for Dark Abyss until Rob heard that Severed Legion had split up and they quickly snapped up Finn to play drums for them.
With the line up appearing to be set they went into their first band practice on July the first 2007.
However three weeks later they were still struggling to write their first song so they enlisted the help of Paul to be a second guitarist for them and help write the songs.
With Paul now as the fifth member Dark Abyss Rapidly wrote their first four songs ‘Pissed At The World’, ‘Blood Red Sacrifice’, ‘Death To The Blind And The Ignorant’, and ‘Little Whore’ in a matter of a couple of months, with the self titled ‘Dark Abyss’ following shortly after.
However all was not well, due to work commitments and his other band ‘Fall To Flames’, Paul was finding it impossible to make regular band practices and consequently only knew two of the five songs. Due to this a band decision was made that Paul would leave and they would find a new guitarist, however, they knew this would not be easy as they had a recording in 1 month.
Luckily though, thanks to the owner of The Music Shed (where Dark Abyss practice) Gez told them of Hayden and after Dark Abyss hearing Hayden’s guitaring and Hayden hearing Dark Abyss’ songs he decided to join and just in time Hayden was ready for the recording.
With lack of money Dark Abyss decided to leave finishing the recording for a while and concentrate on gigging and within 3 weeks after the recording Dark Abyss had their first gig.
Unfortunately band practices leading up to the gig had been Hayden-less due to him now having problems with making band practices due to work commitments.
It was not all bad news tho during this time Dark Abyss got Daniel (Ex-'Infernal Saviour' vocalist) as a second vocalist, which added a new dimension to the band.
A combination of Hayden’s work commitments and a poor stage show by this at the first gig led to him being asked to leave by the rest of the band, this did not leave Dark Abyss short one guitarist again though because Paul now would have no problem making regular band practices because he no longer had problems with work times and was asked to make his return to Dark Abyss, to which he agreed.
With Paul having learnt the songs and an influx of money Dark Abyss finally finished there EP in January 2008.
Unfortunately in early 2008 Paul was having trouble making practice because of work so it was agreed that he would leave and be replaced by good friend of the band Andrew.
With Andrew learning the riffs and new songs being written all seemed well, until the second of May 2008 when Daniel Butler revealed that he was going to be leaving the band. While the band were sad to see him go, they knew they could not dwell on it.
Months on Dark Abyss were still going strong with new faster and heavier songs being written heavier and faster than the songs that preceded it, and then band now had enough money to record their debut album however during this time the band decided that they had had enough which spelt the end for Dark Abyss

Review By Deathdoom Productions Derby based Dark Abyss are a very new band just emerging from a town filled with emo clone bands. No chance of any of that crap here though as Dark Abyss plunge head first into a brutal Grind sound with added pig squeals and a hell of a lot of evilness. Funnily enough Dark Abyss are very catchy in places but generally they concentrate on being totally brutal and unrelentless. For such a new band this is an impressive debut demo. With songs such as "Pissed At The World", "Blood Red Sacrifice" & the ever enigmatic and also the strongest track of the demo "Death To The Blind & The Ignorant" you are always aware of what is to come, and that is a three track demo of pure hatred and animosity all rolled up into a band and unleashed upon the folks of Derby and soon to be beyond.
