With their concept album "Metropolis Part II: Scenes from a Memory", the American progressive rock band Dream Theater established itself as the world-wide pioneer of its genre. Awake has decided to pay tribute to this milestone of rock history. The critiques of the past two years have shown that Awake is up to the high demands of Dream Theater's music.
Awake not only covers the music of Dream Theater, they live it! And you can see that in their show. Music, lighting and film sequences have been extensively recreated. To do this, a high musical level and a small dose of craziness were necessary. This mixture has brought Awake a long way. After their first concert in 2007, the critics were convinced that this plan was not an unreachable goal, but a realistic idea. Over 300 people attended the performance of the album "Metropolis Part II: Scenes from a Memory".
Through this performance, Awake was drawn to the attention of Electro-Voice and Dynacord. Awake played for EV at the Musikmesse in Frankfurt in the Spring of 2008, and became established beyond the borders of Germany.
In Dream Theater fan communities the name Awake has already become a hot tip, since the original band only rarely plays in Germany in comparison to other rock bands.
