You've heard the tunes and now you "Believe". Who ARE these guys who make the music? We're here to tell you... read on and be amazed, scared, confused, thrilled, and mystified...
Gridley Paige is a band from Central New York who tours the regional club scene raising hell and setting attendance records all across the Central New York's "MAP OF ROCK". Formed in 1997 the brother combination of Tim and Jeff released the album "Parental Advisory" which sold over 1,000 copies. In 1999 the band turned heads as they were chosen to perform on the West Main Stage at WOODSTOCK '99. The band received great reviews and the band received major label interest.
In early 2000 the band signed to a demo deal with MOSH Entertainment (SONY Records). The song "Every Other Time" (recorded and made famous by LFO) was to be the single to launch the band. Unfortunately, the band never made it to the recording stage and walked away from the demo deal.
Meanwhile, "Believe" grabbed the attention of local radio station program directors and the song made it's way to full blown rotation at WKLL/ K-ROCK (Syracuse, Utica, Albany) to great response. Landing on the Big 10 @ 10 charts and even holding the number 1 position for a couple of nights. The band is well known for this song that has a huge melodic hook and hard rock guitar sound that will have you singing the chorus for days.
After the fallout with MOSH Entertainment the band decided to release an album under the bands own record label (JTB Records). Written and produced by the brothers and recorded at their own studio (Phat-Boy studios). Finally, "Believe" was released in early 2001, which quickly sold 2000 copies (and currently is out of print). Songs like "Runaway", "Love Song", & "Small Town Hero" also received radio play in other markets.
The band has sharing stages and opening for such National acts as (Good Charlotte, Big Wreck, Splender, Matthew Sweet, Stroke 9, Marcy Playground, Vertical Horizon, Blue Oyster Cult and many more) until the fall of 2001.
In September of 2001 Tim and Jeff parted ways with fellow band mates (Russ Reilly and Mike Talerico) over creative differences and the direction of the band. One year later Matt G left the band and pursues a drunken lifestyle with his new group BONESLAW. The band also made went through a couple other line up changes before finding the greatest pieces to the puzzle.
In late 2002 Tim and Jeff teamed up with now fellow band mates' drummer Pat "What's up My Brother" Orlowski (from the regional band Rattlebasket) and bassist Walt "I NEED Coffee" Butler (from the regional bands TIME & Whiskey Gypsy). The band clicked well right from the first rehearsal. The band was complete again.
Throughout 2003 the band played all the time and found it hard to record new material.
With new songs like "Out of My Head", "Blush", and a list of others the fans wanted a new GP album.
Now present day (2009) the band has laid off the show schedule through the early winter months to work on new material and side projects. Ready to take on a busy 2009 schedule. The band is back with a new look and more mature sound.
Summer 2009 you will see Gridley Paige playing more shows all over the CNY Area. Also More songs have been added to their set to keep the show more insteresting. Check back for details!
