About Me

------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------- thedwarf.com.au Review of The Crane Field EP:This, like his previous EP The Airport Fire, is music for the deserted; music to be heard as you drive alone at 3 in the morning (this is how Heath himself described his last EP and it is just as true on The Crane Field); music for empty airport lounges; music for quiet bars that are the only escape from rain outside. Heath’s ability to produce such solitary sounds is incredible and the best way to appreciate the fact is to take in account when and where the music is played. The Crane Field is emotional – its soundscapes make you think. Dark and moody, Heath’s husky voice leads the listener through his short, but engaging batch of stories. Simple acoustic guitar and percussion arrangements create the backdrop to the tracks, whilst Heath’s voice floods over each, both by itself and amongst numerous haunting vocal harmonies. Radar Radar takes full advantage of these harmonies and along with the basic instrumentation proves that this EP will be all about the vocal.- Liam Tracey (thedwarf.com.au) ------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------Reviews of the last EP (The Airport Fire):It's a slow, dark record; but within the four short tracks, you get this really strong feeling. A feeling that this was made for a reason. The simple melodies and actual music allow you to just sort of... fall into it...” Grace Goodfellow (Rip It Up) ------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------- “…the overall feeling that it leaves behind is that of cold, lonely nights with the radio as your only companion…. telling small tales of empty streets and soulless airports. Lisa Hallquist (Webcuts) ------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------- “…Heath's lyrics, which filter their quiet stories of love through the imagery of an industrialised world. If you imagine a grimey Grant-Lee Phillips sitting on top of a post-apocalyptic junk pile… you're probably getting close to what Heath sounds like.” (Scene Magazine) ------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------ -----------------------------“...he manages to give the tracks an upbeat flavor while still remaining quite dark. Already receiving airplay on radio stations like Triple J and Fbi, his music will appeal to fans of the current alternative folk artists such as M Ward, Andrew Bird and Devendra Banhart. - Jeb Taylor, 'What's On'. 22/6/2007--------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------""Wonderfully downbeat- an undiscovered talent" -Phillipe Perez, 2ser FM" ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------
