So, my name is Dan and I play the bass.
After growing up playing piano, flute and dabbling in guitar for a couple of years I finally picked up the bass in early 1998 and have been playing it ever since. I enjoy playing everything from rock to pop to punk to funk to jazz and everything in between, however, the last 2 (the funk and the jazz) don't get enough of a go as they should.
My musical influences come from all sprectrums of the music landscape (have a look at My Music section for an idea of what I listen too) and my bass playing influences include the likes of James Jamerson, Paul McCartney, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Jaco Pastorius, Flea, Duff McKagan and many, many more.
I currently play in a originals band that goes by the name of gravitate - you can find out more about them by clicking the link to them in my Top Friends section below. I have also played in a mix of originals and covers groups in the past 10 years and have played at Melbourne establishments such as: The Tote, Revolver, Manchester Lane and the Arthouse to name but a few.

I have a life outside of working and bass playing and it revolves around the only 2 things that come before the bass. My wonderful fiance (who you can see in a few of the photos around my page), and my little puppy (Yes, she may be 2 years old, but to me she will always be my puppy). She is a Shiba Inu - a breed of dog from Japan that was almost wiped out in the last century. She is a bundle of energy that never stops and at times can be very cheeky. She loves playing fetch with a tennis ball as long as she doesn't have to give it back and will happily go on walks for hours (if only I did too). All of this is packed neatly into a package no more than 40cm tall and only 8kg.
