Putrilage (RETURNS IN FULL FORM IN ’08)

About Me

In 1999, long time friends and former members of a band named Carrion, Llamar Vasquez (guitar), Anthony Guerrero (guitar), and Chris Salazar (drums) regrouped with new members Chris Herrera (bass) and Aaron Mendiola (vocals). Together they formed PUTRILAGE.
This line-up entered Sonic Deli Studios to record a 4 song demo called "Gorenography". It was released in 1999 and only after being available for about a year, the demo was completely sold out of 500 copies.
Then in March '00, Putrilage was signed to Texas based Corpse Gristle Records. In September '00, the band entered the label's own studio, Triple Sick Studios to record thier debut full length CD, "Devouring the Gutted". Soon after the recording, bassist Chris Herrera was replaced by Dan Briseno. Since the recording of this CD, the business relationship between the label and the band went a bit sour. So in August '01, Putrilage split with the label now known as TXDM Underground, and was in search for a new label. Indiana based Forever Underground was the label chosen. The original recording of the debut full length was finally released in February 2002.With this second line-up, Putrilage had the privilege of playing the Ohio Deathfest 2001 along with some great bands like Cock & Ball Torture, Severe Torture, Deeds of Flesh, Morgue, Regurgitation, Vomit Remnants, Lividity, Infernal Dominion, Gorgasm, Impure, and a whole lot more. Soon after the return from this event, Dan Briseno was replaced on bass by Eddie Blanquiz (guitarist, ex-Disembowel).
In April 2002, the label sent the band on a US tour with fellow label mates Leukorrhea, and Beaheded. The tour was supposed to last 4 weeks. The first two weeks of the tour included only about 4 really good gigs, which included the New Jersey metal fest. The other dates of the tour were so poorly promoted, and not organized well, that when the tour was back in Texas only 8 shows in, Putrilage had to cancel the rest of the tour and stay in Yexas while the other two bands went on to try to complete the tour. When the tour was over there was a lot of tension within the band, and there was a time where members didn't talk much. Chris Salazar went on make his side project band, Gored, a new main focus for him. The rest of the band wanted to continue, so they searched for a new drummer. In this time we had Brent Williams (ex-Lust of Decay) from North Carolina, but he was then replaced with Alex Carrillo (ex-Disembowel). In 2003 there were a couple of new songs finished, and Chris Salazar rejoins the band. Only a few shows back with Chris behind the kit, the band finally called in quits. The members were unable to put aside there differences and will likely never reform. The decision was made to not repress 'Devouring The Gutted'. However, due to demand and people asking for it the re-issue of this masterpiece was released in a limited pressing of 1000 in April 2005. No further releases or repress are scheduled in the future.
The unlikely has come....PUTRILAGE returns in 2007!!!! Original members, Aaron Mendiola (vocals), Llamar Vasquez (guitar), Anthony Guerrero (guitar), and Chris Salazar (drums), along with Eddie Blanquiz (bass) will once again play as one unit.
