Olivier Rouquier

Olivier Rouquier is a professionnal guitarist, a song writer & singer.He started playing guitar at 16, fan of Mark Knopfler. Van Halen and Robben Ford are some great influences too, as well as Frederic Reinhard Mey (German/French singer & song writer). He has toured with singers in France, such as Calvin Russel and other well known artists. He’s played in many bands, for covers and/or original tunes. He likes to play acoustic guitars, but likes to crank up the amplifiers with big electric guitar sounds. He’s now working and recording in France on a new CD, with a dozen of brand new songs. He’s also recording in Studio City, L.A. , with Adam Lasus (producer), for a forthcoming album. Olivier sings & plays guitars in both recordings.Olivier writes every month for popular magazines « Guitarist Magazine » and « Guitarist Acoustic ». He’s conducted more than 1000 tests for these and written a number of guitar lessons … Every year, he writes a special Buyer’s Guide (guitars & bass). He wrote a book about harmony for jazz, blues & rock, « Study & Practice of harmony for Blues, Jazz & Rock », and will release a new book and DVD « Study & Practice Rythm on the Guitar » in September 2008 all of for which he’s met and played with many great guitar players ( John Mc Laughlin, Al Di Meola, Steve Lukather, Robben Ford, Steve Vaï, Gary Moore, Paul Gilbert …) … When he doesn’t play guitar or do music, Olivier is in the mountains (Chamonix) climbing or skiing.
