About Me

I work hard, play harder, and that when I believe strongly enough in something (or someone) i'll go through hell and back for it/them. I'm big on keeping my word, and really big on loyalty.
A revolution starts with just one.
----------------------------------
While sitting in a crowded classroom as a Finance major at St. Johns University in 1997, Matthew Maysonet had an epiphany: that he didn’t want to dedicate the rest of his life to selling imaginary products for imaginary money on Wall Street, sacrificing his friends, family, and personal integrity for personal gain. Instead, he decided…he would go out on a limb and pursue the only real dream he ever had: to work in entertainment, facilitating the hopes and dreams of those he believed in, putting a positive imprint on the landscape of music and media.
Originally from the music side of the entertainment industry…Maysonet began his career in entertainment at the young age of 18, when a chance meeting with a mutual friend of Ahmir "?uestlove" Thompson landed him his first "industry" gig; handling grassroots marketing for The Roots, Common, D'angelo, Okayplayer.com…and several of their contemporaries. As the National Director of Grassroots marketing, Maysonet became immersed in what, at the time, was the budding "neo soul" movement…propelling the careers of artists such as Floetry, Jill Scott, Macy Gray and the like.
In 2001, after 2 years of working under The Roots and for their official website, Okayplayer.com…Maysonet went on to start his own marketing company, BlueChip Productions, LLC. With teams in nearly 30 markets in the United States…the BlueChip Marketing team handled accounts for the likes of Toyota, the NBA, Universal Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures, Atlantic Records, and Shaquille O'Neil. As the leader of one of the nations prominent urban field marketing teams in the United States…Matthew was able to cultivate relationships with tastemakers and industry heavyweights on both coasts…organizing some of the more successful campaigns of the time, including blitz campaigns for the then brand new Toyota Scion and the Oscar winning film Training Day, among others.
While still operating his own company…Matthew began his Tenure at Atlantic/Elektra Records in the Urban Marketing/New Media divisions, where he helped develop projects such as Brandy, Sunshine Anderson, Craig David, TI, Fat Joe, Elephant Man, Kid Rock, Sean Paul, Matchbox 20, Staind, and Missy Elliot.
After nearly 3 years as a part of the Warner Music group, Matthew left in 2004 to pursue his interests in Artist Management, where he managed Jaguar Wright, a long time friend whom he’d met back in his "Roots days," organizing her marketing and touring efforts and enabling Ms. Wright to tour consistently all over the world for nearly 2 years without stopping. After 2 years of touring alongside his artist, working with countless others in the music community (Keyshia Cole, Common, The Roots, Raphael Saadiq, DJ Premier, Obie Trice, Scott Storch, Kindred, etc), Maysonet decided that it was time to live his life back in his home state of NY…finishing up his final tour run on the VH1 Soul Tour and accepting a position at MTV Networks.
Beginning in late 2005, Matthew spearheaded the Marketing efforts for MTV Networks Global Digital division, where he executed marketing campaigns throughout the United States in order to extend MTV Networks' brands in the wireless and digital space…serving as a prime contributor to the marketing campaigns for some of today's most popular television programs (Flavor of Love, Hogan Knows Best, Punk'd, The Real World, The Hills, The Daily Show w/Jon Stewart, Spongebob Squarepants, Americas Best Dance Crew, etc).
Recently, Matthew’s departure from MTV Networks in June, 2008 has allowed him to partake in his passion full time, as he is once again back on the music side of things…working as a talent agent with the NUE Agency; securing touring opportunities around the world for independent and major recording artists.
Since his entrance into entertainment nearly 10 years ago, Matthew will admit that quite a bit has changed with the unraveling of the analogue era to the emergence of the digital age. Through all that, though…one thing has remained a constant; his integrity and willingness to work with only the best in the entertainment and media related industries.
