The Rapidfire Indoor Percussion Ensemble is an independent indoor percussion ensemble based out of Northeast Philadelphia, PA. We take much pride in our programs and our members. Our staff is committed to the education of performers in the visual and performing arts locale. We strive for development of our members on all levels.

Administration
Lee Winter - Director of Rapidfire Percussion Lee has been playing percussion since the age of 9. He started out marching in P.A.L. Drum and Bugle Corp, and in Blackwatch Drum and Bugle Corp. He marched in both organizations in the early 80's. He also marched in Crossman Drum and Bugle Corp in 1989 and 1990, as a cymbal/ bass drum player. He moved away from drum corps and began playing snare drum/trap for the Aqua String Band, part of the Philadelphia Mummers. He began there in 1981, and marched with Aqua for 6 years, marched with Quaker City String Band for 10 years, Hegeman with 2 years, and finally with Woodland now for 7 years. Lee also teaches percussion to children at various schools. He is a charter school teacher in the city of Philadelphia.

Derrick Lewis - Battery Captionhead Derrick Lewis started his marching career in the fall of 1991 with the Spirit of New Jersey Drum and Bugle Corps in Newark, NJ. He spent time playing bass drum, tenors and snare drum during his time there until 1997 and then returning for his ageout year in 2000 as Drum Major. He then moved on in his marching career in 1998 when he marched with the 6 time World Champion Bushwackers Drum and Bugle Corps as a snare drummer. He marched with the Bushwackers until 2006. His teaching credentials started in 1996 when he taught rudimental percussion music classes at 4 elementary schools in Newark, NJ for their after school programs until 1998. He then taught the Spirit of New Jersey in 1998-2000 as a snare/tenor technician. He spent time helping out the front ensemble for the Cadets of New York City in the winter of 2001 and was the Percussion Caption Head for Palmerton Area High School in Palmerton, PA. Most recently, Derrick was a percussion tech for the Washington Township Machine Indoor Percussion Ensemble in 2006. When Derrick isn't busy drumming or teaching, he enjoys watching WWE programming, going to concerts, cooking, and reading.

Hilliary Mattis - Visual Captionhead Hilliary Mattis has been involved in dance since the age of three. Up until the age of thirteen, she had practiced tap, ballet, pointe, and jazz. In 2000 she joined the Bensalem High School colorguard and marched for four years in both the outdoor and indoor programs. She had also played the Alto Saxophone from fourth to twelfth grade. After a three year break from it all, she is back and excited to try something new.
