In our culture we are trained for individual differences to stand out, so you look at each person and your immediate thought is he/she is dumb, rich, poor, young, old, fat, thin. We make all these dimensional distinctions about people, put them in categories, and treat them that way. We get so that we see others as separate from ourselves and the ways in which they are separate. One of the most dramatic characteristics of experience is being with another person and suddenly seeing the ways in which they are like you and the ways they are not different from you. People need to experience the fact that which is essence in you and which is essence in I is one, they need to understand that there is no other, it is all one. I was not born Emily Haworth, I was born a human being.
