Get Funked Up!
Unleash the tiger within you! Friday 14th September sees the birth of Jungle Funk at the Tivoli, Francis st, Dublin 8. Jungle Funk is set to shake up the city with rhythmic beats of the bongo, groove, funk, soul, disco and electro. Be one of the first to witness a spectacular display of funky sounds, visuals and tastes. Jungle Funk promises to be a colorful cocktail of sights, sounds and experiences you won’t forget!
Jungle Funk is the brainchild of Miss Conspicuous, African born with a true passion for congas, bongos and anything percussive; and with the desire to offer Dublin’s clubbing audience something a little out of the ordinary.
Take an exhibition of visual displays and podium dancers with 18-foot pythons draped around their necks; add a jungle inspired theme and a spectacular percussive performance and you have the recipe for the most talked-about club night in the city.
Jungle Funk kicks off with Irish indie act Dave’s Radio warming things up. Having played with major acts like the Blizzards, Republic of Loose and the Frames, this is a threesome not to be missed. The group has been described as a breath of fresh air to the Irish music industry; their music soulful, intense, energetic and filled with emotion.
Promising to create a unique atmosphere never to be forgotten, Jungle Funk will then unleash its dancers and their seven-stone, 18-foot pythons to ‘snake’ things up a little! If snakes aren’t your thing, make your way over to the Jungle Bar for an extraordinary Jungle Funk cocktail (the mixing skills aren’t confined to our decks) before making your way to the dance floor to be shaken by a funky DJ set of electric, soulful, groovy beats dipped with vocals by the legendary Pete Simpson of the Elektrons, UK.
This funky and soulful collaboration, managed and produced by Manchester’s very own Daco (David Connally) of the Elektrons/ Phuturelounge, is set to bring Dublin’s clubbers a night of passionate dancing, vibrant soulful sounds and funky beats, including a dynamic DJ set from DJ Daco himself.
Joining them we bring you rhythm king extraordinaire Basil Isaac, known as Basil Black2Basic. Basil’s undoubtedly at the top of the funky soul food chain, and is well known for banging his drums on stage with Basement Jaxx and Underworld and DJs Robert Owens, Spinna and Giles Peterson. Basil Black2Basic is set to knock you off your feet with his combination of soulful Latin afro grooves which will carry you away to the jungle, while his rhythmic beats fill the dance floor with organic sounds.
Spectacular visual displays by Ireland's top VJ (visual jockey) will leave you with colorful memories of your night in the jungle at the Tivoli.
