DubScandal was born, many moons ago , in the attic of a rented, terrace, after a kid I worked with’s brother, said he was makin’ some beats on his P.C. (that’s Chip, always doin’ somethin’)
Now I’d (DtH) been writin’ some right shit around that time, but wanted to hear if it’d sound better wi a beat and some melody. The answer was NO, but, we started workin’ on other shit together, 6 tracks on a 4 track recorder, was the first offering. Simply named EP, it possessed classics, such as Foot to the Floor in my Flat 4 and the Bong Song...... O.K. it weren’t very good but we were headin’ in the right direction and findin’ our own style. (still don’t know what it is!)
After that, we took up residence at a local studio, MMM (Making Music Movement), we worked with the producer down there, Andy, he pushed us to get away from just Hip Hop and use other genres, while he polished it. Sometimes a bit too much, but he could get some good Tye, so we din’t complain! He produced and collaborated on a 7 track E.P. with 2 off his own beats (Chewit and Hellraiser) before he pissed of around the world and left us to try an suss how his shit worked!
After Andy left, it din’t tek long to get evicted from the studio, apparently, someone took a shit in somebody’s trailer, in the car park, (not us!) an’ that was that.
So we set up a studio in’t Shed, with free studio time, a Grime MC (Blaze (Bandit Younguns) , a 5 year old (ConDog (my lad) an’ our mate Stingray (Tim), on the latest offering who knew what would happen? Well the waits over, it’s finished!! With live drums (and samples), live strings (electric and acoustic) and some shit we’ve picked up along the way. LOOPED LIVE is DubScandal, it sez what we are, it tells of pissed nights out in the Steel City, the daily grind of shit jobs, loves and losses, our 2 bob and with it’s sister E.P., 513, the overwhelmin’ erg to get mashed!!Want to know more?
