Damien Done

What's a "Rock n' Roll Dirge" you ask?

About Me

"Guns n' Roses 'Chinese Democracy' will come out before this fucking Damien Done album does."
- Email from an angry fan
Quite a departure from his years as frontman for some of hardcore punk's more influential outfits, Damien Moyal has chosen to embark on a solo journey that will no doubt cast him into the praises of a more diversified audience.
Already fast-becoming a cult interest among connoisseurs of dark and melancholic music, Damien Done crafts tunes that are both nods to raw, stripped-down rock n' roll roots, as well as forays into experimental, uncharted territories. It's all over the place, stylistically, which is refreshing in a time where most music is designed for simple, homogenized categorization.
Varying greatly from track to track, the only true common element is the unforgiving, morose weight of each song. And that seems to be enough.
When asked to describe Stay Black, the debut LP, Moyal's response was simply "Rock n' Roll dirges. Music for creeps."
- From the Good Life Recordings press release for 'Stay Black'
