I am currently living in Preston, Lancs but I will always be a Norn Iron (Northern Ireland) boy. My main interest is the continuing study of martial arts. I started off studying Jiu Jitsu for 6 years up to Brown Belt level and have now moved onto Jeet Kune Do, Filipino Kali and Pentjak Silat. Check out my self-indulgent photo selection!I study at the Impact School of Martial Arts in Longridge Preston which is part of the Magda Institute of Martial Arts under Sifu Paul Hartley and my Mentor Sifu Ian Fell. I am currently on the Instructor Training Programme and really enjoying teaching the JKD pre-phase class on a Thursday night and hoping to get into teaching more Kali too. It is a really good class even if I do say so myself..lol. The Impact school is hoping to re-locate to a larger premises in Preston in 2008. There will be classes in JKD, Kali, Silat, Kickboxing, BJJ, self defence and yoga. Reiki can enhance everyday life, and regular sessions help to ward-off illness and fatigue.Reiki is a non-invasive therapy that can be used without fear of any side-effects or overdose. It may be used with confidence alongside conventional medication or natural remedies because it acts in a complementary way.A session is usually carried out with the client lying down or sitting, in a comfortable and peaceful environment. There is no need to remove any clothing. The practitioner places their hands gently, in a series of positions, on or over the body. The client's system automatically draws in only as much Reiki as is needed, using it in whatever way is most appropriate at the time. Reiki may be felt as a flow of energy, mild tingling, warmth, coolness, other sensations, or nothing at all. Reiki is deeply relaxing, eases stress, and has a calming effect. Treatment is enhanced if one can rest for a while afterwards and drink plenty of water to help the body detox. Be responsive to the needs of your body, eg resting if tired, and allow the energy to continue its work after the session ends. The beneficial effects may be felt for several days.Reiki is able to transcend time and space and therefore is a powerful energy for distant or absent healing. In other words, a Reiki practitioner is able to treat someone equally as well if they are in another country to them or whether they are sitting in the same room with the practioners hands on them.Quite often distant healing can be as powerful as a hands on treatment as the techniques the Reiki practitioner is trained in allow Reiki to be sent to all areas simultaneously and a 15 minute distant treatment can be equal to one and a half hours treatment of actual hands on time.Distant healing can be used in between hands on sessions or as the chosen method of healing if it is challenging (because of physical location and/or lifestyle) for the practitioner and client to meet.REIKI PRINCIPLESJust for today do not anger,
