The Motorcycle Prom Dates formed in 2001 after the breakup of Wisconsin pop punk band, the Piston Hurricanes. Guitarist Daniel James and drummer Gorky from that band recruited Magoo Adair from Seldon Crisis on bass, and Corey Plagiarist from Two Minute Drill to take over the drum throne, as Gorky moved to lead vocals. Daniel had a wealth of power-pop songs, some of which had made it into the Piston Hurricanes live set, and some were as of yet unheard.
They played a couple shows, recorded a split cassette with the Apologetics and soon recruited Timmy "the Stallion" Heinlein to play second guitar. With the addition of Timmy, and Gorky beginning to become more involved in the songwriting / creative aspect of the band, they began to take on a more "hard rock" sound.
They did a West Coast tour in 2004, and upon returning recorded a split cd with the Shutups from Sheboygan, WI. They then did an East Coast tour in 2003 which ended in Bloomington, IN on the way home. That was the last time the Motorcycle Prom Dates played together.
Everyone's in new bands now. Some of them are in the top friends. Check them out.
