About Me

Alberto Barreira, musician, composer and arranger, was born in Rio de Janeiro at 22 of June 1965. Started playing the flute when he was 12 at the Saint Anne..s School, England. Dois years later felt the necessity of a harmonic instrument and started playing the acoustic guitar. Studied classic guitar with the Professor Luiz Gonzaga and later made the course of modern harmony with the Professor Ian Ghest at the CIGAM Music Institut in Rio de Janeiro. Made also the graduation course in flute by the Escola Nacional de Musica of the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, ministrated by the Professor Celso Woltzenlogel. At the age of 22 he started playing the saxofone, being auto-didact at this instrument. In the professional carrier he played and recorded with many known artists of the brasilian scene, such as: Banda Black Rio, Dalto, Orlando Moraes, Banda Blitz, Biafra, Marcos Sabino, On the Rocks Band, Groove..n Bossa, Os Lobos, Felicidade Suzy,Suzy Thompson, and others. By the Rede Globo de Televisao ( the most important television broadcast in Brasil) he took part of the band on the program "Gente Inocente". Also by Rede Globo he participated for three consecutive years of the TV live program "Domingao do Faustao", where he had the oportunity to play with many other known artists of the brasilian scene, such as: Emilio Santiago, Cauby Peixoto, Roberto Carlos, Rosana, Sidney Magal, Agnaldo Timoteo, Sergio Reis, Jerry Adriani and others. He had also the experience to work on recording studios, like the "Studio Radames", with the maestro Sergio Saraceni, recording CD..s and sound tracks for programs and novels of the "Rede Globo de Televisao", such as: Programa Fama, Quem e você, Kubanacan and others. As a respectable instrumentist on the jazz and intrumental music scene, played together with great musicians, amond them: Arthur Maia, Vitor Biglioni, Kiko Continentino, Marcos Nimrichter, Altair Martins, William Magalhaes, Cassio Tucunduva, Claudio Infante, Marcelo Martins, Pedro Tagliani, Ze Canuto, Wilson Meireles, Ney Conceicao, Dino Rangel, Marcio Bahia, Alex Rocha, Alexandre Prado, Waltenir Estevao, Amaro Junior, Marcelo Cabral, Marcos Vianna, Tito Freitas, Florindo Medeiros, Jesse Sadoc, Rogerio de Castro, Mazinho Ventura, Marcelo Frisieiro, Mafran do Maracanan, Rafael Vernet, Martin Kaelberer, Paulo Camargo, Uli Stach, Claudio Gomez, Thiago Groh, Alexandre Prado, Vitorio Cavalcante, Pedro Tagliani, Sidney Linhares, Augusto Albuquerque, Demetrio Bezerra, Johnson de Almeida, Renato Massa, Thiago Silva, Fabio Lessa, Verissimo, Renato Rocketh, , Ricardo Giesta, Francisco Falcon, Ricardo Pacheco, Xande Figueiredo, Julio Saopaio, Ghislaine Cantini, Xandy Bussay, Celio Bussay, Mauro Costa Junior and many others. In 2005 had the oportunity to record his own instrumental CD, with the participation of great musicians. All songs are composed by him except "Roggenstein Blues", composed by Alberto Barreira and Martin Kaelberer. Now a days he lives in Munich, working with many bands, among them: EZ Pieces, Made in Brasil, The Stimulators, Music Company, Latin Chicos, Salsa Bruxa, Sonido Caliente, Latin Mania, Star Mix, Smile, Bem Brasil, Pop Cabana. As a music teacher of the respective instruments that plays (saxofone, flute and guitar) he gives lessons at the Klang-inseln Musikschule and also private lessons. Due to his versatility he has been acting on many diferent styles of music, from the Instrumental Music, Jazz, Acid Jazz, Pop Music, Rock, Funk, Hip hop, Latin, Bossa Nova and Brasilian Music in general. Alberto is married with Ulli and father of Davi, Gabriel and Susana.
Alberto Barreira, músico, compositor e arranjador, nasceu no Rio de Janeiro em 22 de Junho de 1965. Comecou a tocar flauta transversa aos 12 anos na Saint Anne..s School, Inglaterra. Dois anos depois, sentindo a necessidade de tocar um instrumento harmônico, comecou a tocar violao. Fez o curso de violao clássico com o professor Luis Gonzaga e o curso de harmonia funcional no CIGAM com o professor Ian Ghest. Fez o curso de graduacao em flauta transversa na Escola Nacional de Música da UFRJ, ministrado pelo professor Celso Woltzenlogel. Aos 22 anos comecou a tocar saxofone, sendo auto-ditada neste instrumento. Tocou e gravou com importantes artistas da MPB como Banda Blitz, Dalto, Orlando Moraes, Banda Black Rio, Biafra, Marcos Sabino, On the Rocks Band, Groove..n Bossa, Os Lobos, Felicidade Suzy, Suzy Thompson, entre outros. Pela Rede Globo de Televisao participou do programa Gente Inocente. Também pela mesma emissora fez parte da Banda Domingao do Faustao entre 1998 e 2000, onde acompanhou grandes artistas da MPB, entre eles Emílio Santiago, Jerry Adriani, Roberto Carlos, Sidney Magal, Rosana, Agnaldo Timoteo, Sérgio Reis e Cauby Peixoto. Atuou também em estúdios de gravacao, tais como o Studio Radamés, liderado pelo maestro Sérgio Saraceni, fazendo trilhas e música incidental para novelas e seriados da Rede Globo de Televisao, entre eles os programas Fama, Quem e você, Kubanacan e outros. Na cena instrumental brasileira atuou ao lado de grandes músicos como Artur Maia, Vitor Biglioni, Kiko Continentino, Marcos Nimrichter, Altair Martins, William Magalhaes, Cassio Tucunduva, Claudio Infante, Marcelo Martins, Pedro Tagliani, Ze Canuto, Wilson Meirelles, Ney Conceicao, Dino Rangel, Marcio Bahia, Alex Rocha, Alexandre Prado, Waltenir Estevao, Amaro Junior, Marcelo Cabral, Marcos Vianna, Tito Freitas, Florindo Medeiros, Jesse Sadoc, Rogerio de Castro, Mazinho Ventura, Mafran do Maracanan, Rafael Vernet, Martin Kaelberer, Paulo Camargo, Uli Stach, Claudio Gomez, Thiago Groh, Alexandre Prado, Vitorio Cavalcante, Pedro Tagliani, Sidney Linhares, Augusto Albuquerque, Demetrio Bezerra, Johnson de Almeida, Renato Massa, Thiago Silva, Fabio Lessa, Ricardo Silva, Verissimo, Renato Rocketh, Ricardo Marins, Ricardo Giesta, Francisco Falcon, Ricardo Pacheco, Eduardo Mexicano, Xande Figueiredo, Julio Saopaio, Ghislaine Cantini, Xandy Bussay, Celio Bussay, Mauro Costa Junior e outros. Em 2005 teve o privilégio de ter gravado seu primeiro CD instrumental. Todas as músicas sao de sua autoria, com excecao de "Roggenstein blues", composta por Alberto Barreira e Martin Kaelberer. No CD conta com a participacao de grandes músicos da cena musical brasileira. Atualmente vive em Munique, Alemanha, atuando em varias bandas. Entre elas: EZ Pieces, Made in Brasil, Music Company, The Stimulators, Latin Chicos, Salsa Bruxa, Sonido Caliente, Star Mix, Smile, Bem Brasil, Latin Mania, Pop Cabana . Como professor de musica dos respectivos instrumentos que toca (sax, flauta e violao) tem trabalhado na Klang-insel Musikschule e dado aulas particulares. Devido à sua versatilidade tem atuado em diversos segmentos musicais, desde a Musica Instrumental, Jazz, Acid Jazz, MPB, Rock, Latin, passando pela música Pop Internacional, ate o Funk e o Hip hop. Alberto e casado com Ulli e pai de Davi, Gabriel e Susana.
