About Me

Kevin Sweeney (guitar, vocals) and Nick Bielli (bass, vocals) met at a Catholic high school in Atlanta in 1984, and have been playing together ever since. They formed Hayride in Athens, GA in 1991. They have appeared on (and continue to appear on) numerous regional and national compilations, and have released 4 full-length "official" records- "Smelly Old Cat" (Reservation, 1993), "Elfin Magic" (Capricorn, 1995), "Curses" (Ghostmeat, 1998), and "Curses 2" (HR, 2002-available via Superfluous Umlaut). Local label Superfluous Umlaut released Hayride's most recent available recording as part of a split single with old farts and old pals Harvey Milk, "F@K you Guys," a sequel to their 1992 split single, "Pals Forever." Don't let their lack of recorded output fool you- this is a living , breathing band. Hayride has endured all manner of record-biz and inter-band B.S. over their decade and a half (and then some) on the roost- and they're still here. With more than healthy doses of humor and humility (or is it just bemusement?), they hammer away, actually managing to get better with the passage of time. "But why?", you might ask. Well, let's put it this way: these guys are rock nerds of an order most people can't even begin to fathom-and as musicians, are always working to generate the excitement that they experience as listeners, i.e., if Hayride's happy playing, you'll be happy listening..... this way, everyone wins. Hayride have very recently returned from a nearly two-year absence (children, way-belated college degrees, generalized "searching" (for navel lint?)...anybody over the age of 30 knows the drill on this one) with new drummer Mark Brill (of Supagroup, Burn Version, and Versatilians fame), and are psyched to be playing again. As shows get added, come out and say hey, support the troops, and get your sorry ass rocked off.
