Fredi (Fredericka Carolyn Washington) was born in Savannah, GA December 23rd, 1903. She was most famous for playing Peola in the 1931 classic movie Imitation of Life. She also played in films such as "Emperor Jones" with Paul Robeson and "Black and Tan". She also was a civil rights activist. Fredi passed away in 1994 from a stroke at the age of 90 in her home in Stamford, Connecticut.I dedicate this page to her and the fans who love her.
