About Me

“I’m here...This work is a self-revelation, but only the tip of the iceberg. All I can say is that there is more to come.”Yes, Anjolee is here - refreshingly candid, authentically real. With her debut, self-titled album, Anjolee proves to be a new artist with unrelenting lyrical depth, feeling and integrity. Undoubtedly, if Anjolee has lived it, you will hear it in her music. “I am a visual person. So, when I write, I like to paint a picture with my words. I want my songs to play like movies in the listener’s mind. I want them to feel like they are inside the song. I want them to re-live an experience every time one of my songs is played.”And what a beautiful canvas Anjolee creates with her debut album. From My World to Memories you hear a soulful artist that is no novice to the art of songwriting or expressing her loves and desires through music. Good Girl is a gritty, bass-filled tune about a woman that does all she can for the man she’s with, but continues to feel that emptiness, knowing that she deserves more than what she’s receiving. She pens the finishing touches with a melodic mid-tempo A Beautiful Day, where the artist fearlessly lays out hearts emotions to the object of her affection. Of course, Anjolee doesn’t just leave you with love songs. The guitar-led Water, skillfully speaks about one of the most basic societal needs many live without and unmet. Both lyrically and vocally, Anjolee’s talent shines through brightly on this album.Named after both her maternal and paternal grandmothers, Anjolee was born and raised in Los Angeles. With a mother who works as an educator and a father who is both a pastor and musician, Anjolee grew up infusing harmonies and rhythms in a home that was never without music and sound.Years of singing in her father’s church choir aided in shaping her ear for harmonies and further developed her craft. Music has always been a strong influence in Anjolee’s life. She recalls how her grandmother and aunts would break out in three part harmony at the drop of a hat at family functions. Always encouraged by her family to sing and perform, Anjolee was destined to make music. Her musical influences speak to the diversity and uniqueness of her style. From Gospel trailblazers, BeBe & CeCe Winans to the rock group Chicago, Anjolee has been exposed to all types of music. Her unique style is a blend of R&B with gospel and rock influences. “Though I was mostly influenced by soul, I came to love classical music and classic rock as well - anything where the harmonies dance with each other like lovers. My music is a reflection of my life and experiences.” We love it, too, Anjolee. Keep ..ing that picture, keep feeding our souls.
