Some time ago, in 1981- the year of our Pope John Paul II's attempted assassination, James and Mary Simmen of Buffalo New York's lower east side brought into the world a healthy young baby boy named Joseph- a strong name of biblical background, no doubt named for
his grandfather- an artist of sorts, best known for his fashionable storefront arrangements.
Through the glass windows of the maternity ward, young Josephs cries mimicked, almost perfectly, the tone, key, and tempo of Kim Carnes' "Bette Davis Eyes", as they passed gently through the speakers of a small hand held radio, kept by his brother, James Jr.
in the waiting room just outside.
It was quite evident that neither the Earth, nor the outskirts of its
galaxy, from this day forward, would ever be the same.
