ABOUT THE ARTIST STEVE McELROY
Paintings are forever. From generation to generation, original oil paintings continue to tell their story. For this reason, Steve McElroy approaches his work very seriously. As the result, he is fortunate to now have collectors in many countries of the world. Using only the finest materials, McElroy sends positive messages through his art. Painting offers him an escape into a world of his own making, and offers the viewer a momentary escape every time they view one of his original works. His loyal collectors inspire McElroy to continue to create art in a multitude of his own distinct styles and subject matters. Once a collector makes their first acquisition of one of his originals, they almost always become repeat collectors. The quality of his work is strongly evident the minute collectors open the shipping carton.
Favorite McElroy subjects are positive depictions of women, butterflies, flowers, still life, trees, music, abstract, all things from nature. McElroy collectors know that no two pieces are ever alike and that he uses only the finest materials in the world to create his original work. Because of the quality of McElroy's work, his accomplishments have already been impressive at this early stage in his career. For example, he was the only living artist chosen by the world's largest toy company, Mattel, to create images for The Barbie Arist Series to celebrate Barbie's 40th silver anniversary. Mattel placed McElroy's work prominently alongside the work of the late legendary artist Andy Warhol in cooperation with The Andy Warhol Estate. These images were sold worldwide as collectibles including limited edition puzzles, prints and other silver anniversary and collectible products.
Other accomplishments have been that McElroy was chosen to create the art for an art-themed Sweeps Week Finale Season episode "Weekend in LA" for the Emmy-winning television show Mad About You with Oscar-Winner Helen Hunt. Rosie O'Donnell owns McElroy's original "Rosie's World." Madonna and Carlos Leon own McElroy's "The Ballerina and the Bear" painted for their daughter Lourdes Leon. McElroy recently completed the portrait of the known author and writer Dominick Dunne of Vanity Fair magazine. McElroy original paintings are also in the collections of The Grace Museum, Mattel, Inc., Absolut Vodka, Mercedes-Benz and other fine public and private art collections in the United States, Asia and Europe.
