About Me

NEWS!!! "Leave Me Alone", hilarious new video CLICK HERE!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRvM6EmAIlQ__________________ ________________________________________________________ Most recently featured on the Al Franken Show on Air America Radio and the Stanley Tucci feature film, "Sex & The Other Man", Elizabeth Rose is an artist with TV, film and stage credits and a musical pedigree that spans several generations as well as virtually every style of music.  As a youngster she watched her uncle Ted Raph conduct "Name That Tune" on live TV and her cousin Alan Raph play with Gerry Mulligan. "Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners were always scheduled around Broadway and TV schedules, when we were kids," Rose remembers. The family home in Queens was a center for music: from rock bands to chamber groups.  Her brother Bob Rose became a session guitarist, gracing many hit records.  Her mother, Gerry Rose, did comedy on The David Letterman Show in the 80's.  Her father, Bernard Rose, was an amateur cellist.
With a catalogue of nearly 100 original songs, Rose's solo project kept being pushed aside as she toured with the Broadway "Beatlemania" cast, did musical character work for the cartoon "Kablam!" on Nickelodeon, wrote for the PBS children's show "Animal Tales", composed and performed the theme song for "Women of the World" - a Discovery Channel  pilot.  She also sang, acted and played guitar for "Housewives on Prozac", the Mommapaloza musical comedy featured on CBS Sunday Morning in May 2005.  As a producer, Rose worked on singer/songwriter Deborah Gibson's catalog and produced Japanese singer, Reimy for A&M.
As the 21st century began, Rose became a featured performer on the New York blues scene.  She headlined at the famed Bottom Line Cabaret in 2001.  Her band was honored by NY's Women In Music.  Rose recorded a single with the legendary Pinetop Perkins, slated for upcoming release.  Along with Pinetop, Rose has jammed with blues musicians Charles Honeyboy" Otis, Bill Perry, Poppa Chubby and Tony Lynn Washington.  She has been a featured performer at the Blues Women for the Cure Festival in Long Island and NY's Blues 2000 Festival in The Blues Sistahs.  She played at the Cork Jazz Festival (Ireland)  with George Kilby, Jr. and the Coolerators and participated in the Woman's Jazz Festival in Kansas City.  Alan Paul, of the Grammy honored vocal group, The Manhattan Transfer, joined Rose on stage for a scatting session at NY's Chicago Blues club.
In the fall of 2002, Rose won a Michael Jordan Fundamentals Grant for the innovative songwriting workshop she created at Vanguard High School where she was Artist-in-Residence for several years.  Rose has continued to bring music teachers and instruments to Vanguard with the support of "The Child's Voice Foundation".
Now Rose's first full length studio cd hits the racks.  "The 12-song collection Sleep Naked is a journal of emotions, well wrought and insightfully captured.  Aided by tight arrangements and a cracking supporting ensemble, Elizabeth Rose's bluesy, soulful approach has a touch of Bonnie Raitt, but with the insouciant funk of Rickie Lee Jones and the lyrical sophistication of Cole Porter."  (Jon Chappell, author, "Rock Guitar for Dummies").  Produced by Shinya Miyamoto, the album also features a "cadre of veteran musicians" who have played with the likes of Billy Joel, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra and the Harlem Gospel Choir.
A portion of the proceeds of "Sleep Naked" will fund music in the schools.
