Bluegrass Special 30th September 2007
Since its auspicious sell out opening in Nov 2006, Out of the Woods Acoustic Music Club at The Woodlands Hotel, Dundee has gone from strength to strength featuring a diverse range of acoustic artists and singer songwriters including Karine Polwart, Martin Stephenson, Boo Hewerdine, Rab Noakes, Waking the Witch, Druce + Jones, Angie Palmer, Andi Neate and Michael Marra.
Indie band The Hazey Janes have played unplugged at the club and further unplugged gigs featuring top rock and indie artists are planned for next season.
Currently running once a month, first Sunday of the month, and hosted by local singer/songwriter and promoter, Pauline Meikleham, the club is attracting a growing audience attracted to the diverse programming with a love of live acoustic music in common.
35 years after the legendary Dundee Folk Club closed operations after 10 years of programming the best of local and international acoustic music at the Woodlands Hotel, Out of the Woods are staying true to the original ethos of the club, hosting top acoustic names alongside local up and coming artists, thereby providing a platform and an audience for both established and emerging talent.
For an average ticket price of between £8 and £12 pounds, you can expect to see at least 4 or 5 separate acts performing sets of between 10 minutes and an hour and to enjoy nearly three hours of acoustic music.
Tickets for all gigs can be booked by telephone through the Woodlands Hotel (01382 480033) or purchased direct from Groucho’s Record Exchange, Perth Road, Dundee
