The ensemble AMARO DEL has its beginning in 1988, in Belgrade. The name comes from Gypsy language and can be translated into English as OUR LORD. The word DEL also means ‘paradise’, ‘heavens’, and ‘universe’ and has its roots in the ancient Inidan word DEVA, which had been used to express the meaning of goodness and altruism
The AMARO DEL ensemble performs Gypsy songs from many different counties: Hungary, Russia, Romania, France, Poland, Moldavia, India, Azerbaijan, Yugoslavia, as well as Romanian folk songs. The group is also known by its visual appearance, since they wear authentic Gypsy costumes.
The AMARO DEL ensemble has held a significant number of concerts, TV and radio shows and has regular engagements in exclusive clubs and restaurants. AMARO DEL ensemble has made many concert, club and TV appearances. It made around 70 independent concerts. One should mention the concerts: of 1992 and 1993 at BELEF (Belgrade Summer Festival), of 1992 in synagogue in Novi Sad, of 1996 and 1999 in Valjevo as a part of Teshnyar's Nights, of 1998,1999 and 2000 at Kalemegdan also as a part of Belgrade Sunsets Festival and several concerts in the Memorial Concert Hall of Kolarac. 2006. Amaro Del performed at EXIT festival in Novi Sad. As far as club appearances are concerned, there are a lot of them, but it would be important to mention a two-year contract with the Ellington club of Hyatt Regency Hotel in Belgrade as well as performances in clubs in Geneva, Amsterdam, Bucharest etc.
In collaboration with publishing house KOCH INTERNATIONAL, Vienna, AMARO DEL published a CD with 14 songs was recorded in 1993. The CD is titled THE WORLD OF GYPSY MUSIC and available in 6 European countries: Austria, Switzerland, Germany, England, Holland and Belgium.
The publishing house T. PICS from London, UK, published a compilation of Gypsy music and one of the songs performs AMARO DEL.
At the end of December 2001. in Belgrade, Serbia, publishing house ENERGIA published a new CD of the ensemble AMARO DEL. This album, titled BARO THAN (THE GREAT LAND), called great attention of media and public. There are 12 traditional Gypsy songs on it, which are arranged and interpreted in a unique way.Created with mySpace Profile Editor
