So I've finally decided to change my profile and make it exclusively connected with my writing, which makes sense because, after all, myspace is supposed to be some odd digital connection or extension of ones self (cough, bullshit, cough) and I consider myself an artist(if I actually am, I'm not really sure). Anyhow I'm not a fan of social networking (too impersonal or at least fraudulently personal) but I'm going to use myspace as a marketing tool...Now to the important part, my writing. For the past two years I've been working on a novel called Poison Leaves. Its gone through numerous rewrites, a name change, and intense editing(it's nearly 100 pages shorter than the original version and almost 90% different) but now I'm finished and happy with the outcome. Its more or less about post-tragedy spirituality, focusing directly on Christianity, Nihilism, and Naturalistic Pantheism, the latter being the most highly dissected and really the driving force. In its heart its a post-war drama, filled with abandoned farms, cursed apple trees, allegorical creatures, unforgiving bouts of drunkenness, and, above all, accidents, chaos, and bad luck. It should be available on Amazon in late July, early August. I'll get around to writing a synopsis for it eventually but I like to procrastinate. To hold you off until then I'll give you a list of influences to give a feel of what the novel is about.
Influences: Black and white films, Ghosts, Andrew Wyeth, Greek Tragedy, my grandfather, Naturalistic Pantheism, the effect of war on the environment and its people, Existentialism and Nihilism, God and Christianity, Michigan, abandoned farms and barns, the similarities and relationships between all living things, personal histories, psychology and madness, the music of Sufjan Stevens and Sam Beam
