Well, where to begin? I started playing music and guitar at the age of 8 and by the age 10 I was hooked for life...Coming from a background of musical talent from my grandparents, their siblings, my parents and a abundance of friends and neighbors in a rural area of Southern Ontario. I seemed I had no choice but to excel at the art of music and to grow love and appreciation for it's many styles. At a young age I was exposed to numerous influences dating back to 50's Rock ,Country and Folk artists. From there my own musical taste began to develop for artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Dire Straights, Led Zeppelin and all the modern day rock/alternative music such as Jeff Healer, GNR, Def Fleppard, Black Crowes, Mr. Big, Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Creed, STP, Gary Moore(Thin Lizzy) even some country tho I don't like to admit it! I could go on and on about influences...I'm pretty much a product of everything that has been produced in the last 58 years. So having said that...I'm a well rounded musician. Anything I have listened to I have most likely jammed with, learned and applied. I seem to pick up a little something from everything and as I have grown with my instrument and a vast palate of genre's, I feel I will succeed in the musicians, guitarist, rockers dream...And we all know what that is!!!!To this day I have had some success. In 2005 I was fortunate enough to win a home town battle of the bands competition, earning some bragging rights, some recording time in a professional studio and a chance to kick off the night and open for a well known hometown band Greenstar, And Matt Mayes & El Torpedo. I forgot to mention Theory of a Deadman's sound guys ran the 135,000 watt sound system for us that day and we hung out with all the bands in our 30foot backstage RV. Not bad for a group of guys that had only been together for 8 weeks, Way to go Malyce (Bragging Rights) Too bad we couldn't have communicated better...Currently I am living in Winnipeg Manitoba, I have been fortunate enough to be signed to a local entertainment company and I am doing solo acoustic shows almost nightly....Since I have been in Winnipeg I have also been a hired session guitarist for various bands such As Studio 69, Piston Broke and Reverse Separation. At the moment I am looking to join a serious group for either original or cover material that is doing more than just the home circuit.I felt in rewriting this that I would just be me. I tried to do this is 3rd person before and it just seemed dumb, plain and simple. I feel today business has got in the way of what music is really about and who we are as musicians....There's more smoke and mirrors than we see...That seems to be a problem we all need to look at for the greater good in many senses..But this is a whole other topic......Thanks for dropping by my page ..Hope You enjoy my tunes ......J.J.R.................................................
