"Die Pferde" (the horses) - under this ominous name three young musicians from Cologne and Ruhrgebiet commit themselves entirely to improvisation. Intuitively, without any pre-arrangements or genre boundaries they spontaneously create moments and moods - somewhere between silence and noise - emphazising spiritedness, atmosphere and emotionality.
For their scoring of a Kaurismäki silent movie Die Pferde won the 1st price at the Musiktriennale 2007 in Cologne. Later that year they played their first tour through Poland and improvised a multimedia fairy tale for children together with actress Regina Gisbertz and the visual artists "Elektromesi" at the Jazzfestival Viersen. In 2008 they followed an invitation to play at the Sipan Filmfestival in Croatia.
Die Pferde are Olaf Hollmann (saxophone), Arno Bauch (drums) and Gregor Sonnenberg (electric bass).
