About Me
Elabjer started his musical career as a member of Da Crew, a four member breakbeat outfit, in early 90's. After a few years, team members drifted apart in musical direction, so each started pursuing their own solo projects. Elabjer's first venture started under an alias Godhead – it was a harder sounding breakbeat orientated electro style, combined with live elements. At that time Slovenia started to develop its own clubbing culture. Dominated by the German mainstream influences, there was very little space for breakbeat orientated production, so Godhead never gained much popularity at home, although demo tapes send abroad were highly acclaimed by foreign DJs and Elabjer's work got its first air-play. In early 1996, Elabjer teamed up with DJ Neuro to form a hard-trance / techno project called Global Confusion. In a period shorter than a year, the team produced over 2 hours of material, which was presented all over Slovenia on numerous rave parties. Their project was a success, but beeing unable to agree on several critical issues, Elabjer stopped developing it further to concentrate on his first remix job - Strelnikoff's "Hojladrija, svinjarija, diareja, gonoreja" LP. Remixes were very well accepted, so Elabjer continued working with the band on a new project - a single called Bitchcraft. This record quickly became and still remains the biggest music-related affair in Slovenian history. Due to its controversial cover and supposed religious implications, Bitchcraft got enormous press coverage and Elabjer became known internationally. At this point, the time was right for his debut solo release. It came in '98 in a form of eight track LP Art Millenium. Album combined different musical styles streching from dub, trip hop and breakbeat to drum 'n bass showing Elabjer's ability to function as a producer on multiple levels. It was pioneer work - Art Millenium was and remains the only LP of its kind in Slovenia up to this day. In '99 he bought a pair of turntables and started actively Djing. Unsatisfied with the records he was able to get, he started producing tracks which became the foundation and the cause for the founding of e-modulation records. In the next couple of years Elabjer DJed all over Slovenia and neighbouring countries, released four 12" singles and organized several successful clubbing events. To push his boundaries once more, he concieved a special project for one of e-modulation's events. He formed a band called Luvtown (DJ, bass, guitar, percussions, keyboards, singer), which played popular house music live. Their first performance was a huge success and due to popular demand they started working on more complex, somewhat jazz influenced tracks. Incorporating more and more creativity, improvisation and own authoring soon left some members unable to keep the pace and band stoped functioning. Elabjer didn't give up. Fascinated by the shear energy of live performance he formed a trio with D. Knezevic (bass) and G. Piano (guitar) called Three of many. They started producing and the beggining of the 2004 saw the release of their first EP entitled codename: tricky trigger. In recent years the trio has expanded their performance to incorporate real-time video transforming their show into unique multimedia experience. Recently Elabjer started hosting a radio show called Offstream at a local radio station Celjski val. The show focuses on jazz influenced production ranging from oldschool funk, acid-jazz and disco to contemporary house and nu-jazz.
